Tip Jars in Weird Places

A man I know who spent years overseas commented and inquired regarding the tip jars he sees everywhere. He even saw a tip jar for a pre-made sandwich at an airport, a tip jar at a gas station.

Has TSA ever put up a tip jar? If they do a good job with the strip search, they can give you a tip? The police could put up a tip jar at the jail for people they bust for DUIs to contribute to.

At one of these Chinese buffets in the US with a hibachi grill, I asked the cook if he preferred his tips on the counter or in the jar. He wanted them on the counter. He said the boss keeps the tips in the jar. That's pretty messed up.

If I tip at a restaurant, I put down no tip on the credit card and leave cash on the table. Especially at those Chinese restaurants, you don't know if a digital tip ever makes it to anyone.
