Psychopathic people rise to the top in corrupt civilizations.

Most people don't comprehend how utterly two-faced politicians are, but they are the prime example of reaching the apex of the evil-status hierarchy. People worship these criminals and subconsciously drift toward the same foul behavior. It's Stockholm syndrome on the scale of billions of people, yet nobody seems to discuss this phenomenon.

The idealism around evil starts with the state and propagates downwards. Human beings are not inherently evil, but when a small number of people controlling the infrastructure institutionalize evil, it becomes the norm.

Sobering and undeniable.

So I guess this underlines the advisability of checks and balances, so that non-psychopaths have a fighting chance.

Checks and balances like the Anglo-Saxon Common Law, Magna Carta, the Bill of Rights, a functioning electoral college, legislatures choosing U.S. senators;

plus free and equal television time for qualified candidates;

plus overt reference to Christianity or religion in general as a source of moral control;

plus a militia armed to the teeth;

plus secession.
