Yes, just like with some in the US, there are those who beat their wives. I see black eyes and such.
This is not likely to be due to the Mr being some kind of disciplinarian. LOL
More likely would be the man came home drunk and a fight with the Mrs ensued. Alcohol and its related abuses are rampant here.
