There's only one proven way to have a good social and love life in this country, and that is to have a job in a bar or restaurant. Those people have extensive social networks and everything comes easily and naturally to them because they are pre-approved and it is okay for them to socialize among themselves and with customers. Everyone else is on the outside. That is the only way to have social status and access to other people.
