In a way, yes, because I didn't expect the West would be stupid enough to start a proxy War with Russia which includes the West destroying their own economies and most nations in the world.

I think they're engaging in policies to lose and have a way to blame everything on "outside forces" because if the West's proxy War is looked at in an objective, logical reasoning then there's no reason the West should be doing what it is doing, especially not European nations, but if it's all about losing and trying to destroy the Euro and boost America so it can better survive the upcoming collapse of the West, then it begins to make sense.

Russia actually wins more long-term the longer an economic War of Attrition lasts. The West is probably intentionally attempting to lose. I wrote a post about this but didn't posted it. For example, people think only about winning, but losing is sometimes a tactic or strategy to create new changes, and some things can only be gained by losing, such as totalitarianism in the West.

You might be right about them trying to lose on purpose, interesting thoughts.

The destructive insanity they've released across the full spectrum from the cultural depravity and dumbing down of the public through woke education and financing the race riots and so on is one thing.
Then on the economic side, the insane shutdowns of energy resources, messing up supply chains, and money printing that inflates asset prices (including energy and commodity even more) and could theoretically could get into Weimar scenarios... but then on top of that provoking the war against Russia (and/or China and other allies)....
It's all too much at once if they just planned for a steady degradation and slow decline.

Also, the stats showing compulsory vaccination of the US ZOG military forces caused a huge spike in deaths and injury (per reports posted in the Risks of the Covid vaccine thread)... that's another hint they're actually trying to set up USSA for a loss.

Military topics aren't my area of expertise, but I wondered how elites would theoretically try to mop up a rebellious public like kulaks in an SHTF scenario, then it occurred to me: Mercenaries, maybe...?

The Framers wrote the Constitution at a time when state churches were central to a nation’s identity. A state church gives an official answer to the most important questions about human existence. The First Amendment doesn’t (or shouldn’t) just stop the government from silencing us. It also implicitly bars the government from forcing us to accept an official view of reality. The Framers thought liberty of conscience was more important than unity of belief. This was a radical view then and remains so today. The First Amendment probably couldn’t be passed now.

Early in American history, the First Amendment was tested by the Alien and Sedition Acts. The Alien Act gave the president more power to deport potentially dangerous foreigners. The Sedition Act made it a crime to print or say “any false, scandalous, and malicious writing” about the government. President John Adams supported these laws because he wanted to prevent a war with France. Vice President Thomas Jefferson was so disgusted by the acts he proposed nullification. The acts’ unpopularity probably contributed to Jefferson’s victory in 1800. They expired, having never been examined by the Supreme Court.

The Court may get another chance. The Department of Homeland Security, now presiding over a wave of illegal immigration that has driven America’s foreign-born population to a record 46.6 million people, has set up a “Disinformation Governance Board.” It represents a new kind of Sedition Act. Among the foreign-born population is Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. During recent testimony before Congress, the secretary replied to three questions from black Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (D-IL).

First, she asked what DHS was doing about “white supremacists, [who, according to the intelligence community,] present the most lethal domestic violent extremism movement in the homeland.” The Secretary agreed that they were the “most lethal” danger.

Second, she asked about “mis-and-disinformation,” specifically foreign countries that “attempt to destabilize our elections by targeting people of color with disinformation campaigns.” The Secretary said fighting this was indeed a “critical effort.” Third, she asked for assurance that DHS would fight “mis-and-disinformation” for Spanish-speakers.

Secretary Mayorkas replied that DHS had “just recently constituted a misinformation disinformation governance board.” The goal would be to bring the “resources of the department together to address this threat,” because “the spread of mis-and-disinformation in minority communities” is especially bad.

Republicans, notably GOP Senate nominee J.D. Vance of Ohio and Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri, slammed the board. “Rather than protecting our border or the American homeland, you have chosen to make policing Americans’ speech your priority,” wrote Senator Hawley. He said it should be dissolved. Many online mocked the Biden Administration’s “Ministry of Truth.” One Nina Jankowicz, who disgraced herself in song and whose pinned tweet promotes her book “How to Be a Woman Online,” will be Executive Director.

Republicans and even the left-libertarian Reason magazine have heavily criticized the new department, and the Biden administration seems embarrassed. The day after the Secretary’s testimony, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki seemed ill-prepared to explain the board’s purpose and had no information about Miss Jankowicz. “It sounds like the objective of the board is to prevent disinformation and misinformation from traveling around the country in a range of communities,” she said. “I’m not sure who opposes that.”

Many people do, not least because the Executive Director herself appears to be guilty of spreading misinformation. During the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020, Nina Jankowicz was worried about “police aggression against protesters.” She suggested there was massive Russian interference in the 2016 election. She promoted Christopher Steele, author of a dossier with false information that prompted an FBI investigation into President Trump. She dismissed Hunter Biden’s laptop as a “Trump campaign product.” She later implied that American intelligence thought it could be a Russian influence operation. The Washington Examiner reports that her view was not supported by evidence.

The Biden Administration is making the situation worse. Secretary Mayorkas claimed Miss Jankowicz would be “absolutely” politically neutral, though he did concede, “I think we probably could have done a better job in communicating what it [the disinformation board] does and does not do.”

The fight against supposed misinformation has already begun. The DHS has resources, fact sheets, and infographics that tell you to rely on “official websites and verified social media for authoritative information.” This implies a government-sanctioned seal of approval.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, set up under Donald Trump within the DHS, publishes graphic novels about the war on disinformation. In one called Bug Bytes, “readers follow protagonist Ava, a graduate, who uses her wits and journalism skills to uncover a disinformation campaign set to damage Fifth Generation (5G) critical communications infrastructure in the United States.” She works to expose donors to “anti-vaccination groups,” notably by ambushing an online commentator who foolishly agrees to her request for an interview. She lures him in by telling him to “think of this as an exclusive opportunity to share your views with a wide audience.” Eventually, she uncovers that a man “tied to the anti-vaccination petition and links to foreign backers” was trying to burn down 5G towers.

Ava goes on to get a National Journalism Award, suggesting that DHS considers mainstream press an ally. Nina Jankowicz supports doxxers Brandy Zadrozny and Taylor Lorenz, who recently doxxed the Libs of TikTok Twitter account with help from a researcher who may have been funded indirectly by the German government.

What is this new board supposed to do? When asked, the Secretary waffled, but finally gave an answer:

it works to ensure that the way in which we address threats, the connectivity between threats and acts of violence are addressed without infringing on free speech, protecting civil rights and civil liberties, the right of privacy. And the board, this working group, internal working group, will draw from best practices and communicate those best practices to the operators, [emphasis added] because the board does not have operational authority.

Who are “the operators?” The Secretary won’t say. In the article linked above, National Review suggests that it’s the social media companies, but seems puzzled about what DHS would tell them to do. We’re not. DHS already told us.

Acting Secretary Kevin McAleenan under Donald Trump openly said in 2019 that the department pressures social media companies to censor people the agency doesn’t like. In 2021, the White House pressured social media companies to ban the “disinformation dozen,” who were allegedly spreading false information about COVID-19. How were these people identified? In a report from the “Center for Countering Digital Hate,” whose remit now apparently extends to medicine. The White House also pressured Spotify to do “more” about Joe Rogan when he questioned certain aspects of the government’s COVID-19 story. Former president Barack Obama recently gave a speech calling for more social media regulation.

The DHS Secretary claims his Department doesn’t monitor Americans. Perhaps. However, the Office Of National Intelligence found that in 2021, the FBI conducted 3.4 million data searches in the United States without warrants. Most were supposedly of alleged Russian and other foreign hackers.

Tucker Carlson critiqued this new DHS board and its executive director.

In contrast, the most recent prominent case of white extremists allegedly plotting a crime, the supposed kidnapping of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, probably wouldn’t have happened without FBI enticement. A jury recently acquitted two men, while a mistrial was declared for two others. There are practically no whites on the FBI’s list of most wanted terrorists. The ADL, which recently changed its definition of racism, puts out useless reports on “extremist terrorism” that contain little to no evidence. Crime is rising, and it is committed disproportionately by blacks against whites.

What role does disinformation play in that? Doesn’t constant harping on white crimes, past and present, encourage blacks to resent whites?

The DHS consistently stresses that it is fighting disinformation from foreigners, even though the department imports foreigners. Two of three main features on the DHS’s website are for programs to import Afghans and Ukrainians. (The other one is about “climate change.”) Deportations by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, part of DHS, are down by 70 percent under the Biden Administration and the DHS is rewarding illegals with free smartphones.

Rep. Underwood may be guilty of spreading disinformation. In 2019, she suggested that Homeland Security may have been intentionally killing migrants. One might call this a conspiracy theory designed to inflame the “Spanish-speaking community.” Her comments that minorities specifically need to be protected from misinformation suggest that they can’t figure things out for themselves.

There’s an important difference between the Sedition Acts of the early republic and the de-facto Sedition regulations of our failing republic. John Adams was trying to prevent a war by cooling down rhetoric. The DHS is now promoting claims about Russian misinformation and the need to “Unite for Ukraine.” If America is so fragile that it must be guarded from foreign influence, it’s odd that the Executive Director of our new disinformation board has a Ukrainian flag in her Twitter bio. Ukraine may be a great country and its cause just, but the United States is not bound to it by treaty. Unlike President Adams, the DHS seems to be trying to get us into a war.

Furthermore, the fear that an enemy could take advantage of our own ethnic divisions is an admission that diversity is a weakness. Vice President Kamala Harris admitted during the 2020 campaign that “racism, sexism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, and transphobia are America’s Achilles heel.” She said these issues were a matter of “national security” because they could be exploited by foes. Rep. Underwood alluded in her recent testimony to disinformation that could target people of color and so “destabilize our elections.” Another DHS comic blaming Russia for “deepfakes” warns of foreigners using disinformation “to weaken and divide a society.” America’s own government has been doing a good job of that.

The new board seems to have little legal power. However, it can pressure “observers,” meaning social media companies, to ban certain people. It appears that it will be working with the media to eliminate some of their competitors. The executive director’s past shows a strong political bias and gullibility for fake news and leftist conspiracies.

Racial diversity and free speech may be incompatible. The alarmists at the DHS may think Russia is exploiting American racial and social divisions. However, those divisions were built by our own rulers. Setting up a “Disinformation Governance Board” won’t change the way the government behaves. It is an admission that it must use more force to keep our various “communities” from each other’s throats.

The government seems to be preparing to pressure social media companies and use the excuse of “foreign interference” to shut down speech it doesn’t like. The question is why the government now feels comfortable announcing this openly. Perhaps our rulers know that the media won’t just tolerate this process but encourage it.

The DHS, its Disinformation Governance Board, and the rest of the federal government want to shut down truthful speech. Jared Taylor and other dissidents were not purged from social media for telling lies or “trolling” but for calmly telling the truth. Promoting racial egalitarianism is misinformation. White privilege is a destructive conspiracy theory that encourages hatred for whites. I thank the Disinformation Governance Board for revealing the nature of this government so clearly.

It's a good point they make there: I don't have anything against "racial diversity" in theory, and likely will be living in other countries with as much of it as the USSA (except with almost no whites and jews, LOL), but if you study the history of the USA and look at resources like the Nation of Islam's "Secret Relationship of Blacks and Jews" series and then read about the central role of jewish communists in the "Civil Rights" movement that forced the blacks and whites into "integration," it's totally obvious they're just using their old "othering" process and promoting mass immigration and "diversity" so they can stir up conflict and division and bring the nation under the totalitarian jewish oligarchy.

DeSantis said the effort really amounts to a war against conservative dissent against a “decaying and discredited ruling elite in this country.”

The Governor referred to the proposed bureau as a “belated April Fool’s Joke,” but one with a malign intent: to “stifle dissent.”

“What they want to do is they want to be able to put out false narratives without people being able to speak out and fight back,” DeSantis said. “They want to be able to say things like ‘Russian collusion’ and perpetuate hoaxes and have people like us be silenced.”


The Governor called attention to the appointed leader of the agency, Wilson Center disinformation fellow Nina Jankowicz, as an “advocate for COVID lockdowns who herself has put out disinformation about the Hunter Biden tapes, who supported Russian collusion conspiracy theories.”

“This is not acceptable, and in Florida we’re not going to have it,” DeSantis said, going on to add that the “public is sick of this.”

According to Homeland Security Today, the so-called Disinformation Governance Board will work to counter misinformation and disinformation. The Associated Press notes that work will take many forms, ranging from scrutinizing messaging received by undocumented immigrants crossing the Mexican-U.S. border to election disinformation, such as that from Russia. However, conservatives warn the office will be used to chill internal dissent.

“We reject this bureau in the state of Florida,” DeSantis added. “We believe it’s essential that individual Floridians and Americans be able to speak out against false narratives trying to be jammed down our throats by this regime.”

DeSantis also called attention to the President seeming less than robust to some observers, describing Biden as “floundering on the world stage,” and “shaking hands with the air.”

“It’s sad,” DeSantis said over laughter from the crowd, “but it’s also negatively impacting people’s lives.”

Attorneys General from 20 conservative states are threatening legal action against the Department of Homeland Security’s newly formed Disinformation Governance Board, which they said will have a chilling effect on freedom of expression and described as “un-American.”

Virginia’s AG Jason Miyares and 19 other attorneys general sent a letter to Alejandro Mayorkas, the Homeland Security Secretary, demanding the dissolution of the Disinformation Governance Board.

“This is an unacceptable and downright alarming encroachment on every citizen’s right to express his or her opinions, engage in political debate, and disagree with the government,” the attorneys general wrote.

The Republicans are taking issue with the timing of the new board, as it comes after it was revealed that the White House was flagging posts on behalf of social media platforms. Additionally, it comes just after Tesla CEO Elon Musk, a self-described free speech absolutist, made a bid for Twitter.

“Suddenly, just as Elon Musk prepares to acquire Twitter with the stated purpose of correcting the platform’s censorship of free speech, you announce the creation of the Disinformation Governance Board. As the Biden Administration apparently loses a critical ally in its campaign to suppress speech it deems “problematic,” you have created a new government body to continue that work within the federal government,” the letter says.

“The contemporaneous occurrence of these two events is hard to explain away as mere coincidence. It instead raises troubling questions about the extent of the Biden Administration’s practice of coordinating with private-sector companies to suppress disfavored speech.”

The Republicans also expressed concern about the leader of the board, Nina Jankowicz, noting that she is “often in error but never in doubt.” She claimed the Hunter Biden laptop story was Russian propaganda, a theory that has since been proven wrong.

The attorneys general argue the board is illegal because there is “no statutory authority” supporting its creation.

“Unless you turn back now and disband this Orwellian Disinformation Governance Board immediately, the undersigned will have no choice but to consider judicial remedies to protect the rights of their citizens,” the letter concludes.

President Joe Biden and multiple top officials in his administration have been sued by two Republican-led states for pressuring and collusion with Big Tech to suppress free speech. The suit cites the Hunter Biden laptop story, the lab-leak theory, the security of mail-in voting, and the effectiveness of cloth masks.

The lawsuit was filed by Louisiana’s and Missouri’s attorneys general Jeff Landry and Eric Schmitt. They accuse top government officials, including Biden, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and the head of the DHS’ newly formed Disinformation Governance Board Nina Jankowicz, of colluding with Big Tech to suppress free speech and pressuring platforms to censor conservative voices.

“Having threatened and cajoled social-media platforms for years to censor viewpoints and speakers disfavored by the Left, senior government officials in the Executive Branch have moved into a phase of open collusion with social media companies to suppress disfavored speakers, viewpoints, and content on social-media platforms under the Orwellian guise of halting so-called ‘disinformation.’ ‘misinformation,’ and ‘malinformation,’” the filling claims.

“Labeling disfavored speech ‘misinformation’ or ‘disinformation’ does not strip it of First Amendment Protection … with the common understanding that some false statements are inevitable if there is to be an open and vigorous expression of views in public and private conversation … the First Amendment seeks to guarantee.”

The suit cites the censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story published by the New York Post in October 2020, a few weeks to the presidential election.

“Perhaps most notoriously, social media platforms aggressively censored an October 14, 2020 New York Post expose about the contents of the laptop of Hunter Biden, which had been abandoned in a Delaware repair shop and contained compromising photos and email communications about corrupt foreign business deals,” the suit states.

Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube censored, removed, and limited the spread of the story. 17 months after the New York Post published the story, the Washington Post and the New York Times authenticated the contents of the laptop.

The lawsuit also notes that Big Tech platforms “aggressively” censored “speech that raised concerns about the security of voting by mail, a major election-security issue.”

It also cites the censorship of content suggesting that COVID-19 leaked from a lab. Many studies have since supported the lab-leak theory. The attorneys general accuse Dr. Fauci of “orchestrating a campaign to falsely discredit the lab-leak theory.”

The suit also notes that YouTube censored videos questioning the effectiveness of cloth masks, which the CDC later confirmed were less effective than other types of masks.

“There is a common theme to all these examples of wrong-headed censorship: Each involved censoring truthful or reliable information that contradicted left-wing political narratives,” the lawsuit, filed in the Western District of Louisiana US District Court, states.

The lawsuit asks the court to declare that the defendants exceeded their authority and violated free speech rights under the First Amendment. It also demands that the court orders the defendants to stop illegally suppressing free speech.

Using coded language so you can talk with a private group of the initiated without being censored is literally the diametric opposite of harassment, and proves that she is not simply concerned about “online safety” for the feelings of emotionally unstable people, but with silencing the ability of anyone who disagrees with the government to be able to communicate at all.

What is the Point of This?

No one is explaining what the point of this “board” is. That is the real question here. What the hell are we even talking about?

The DHS already had the ability to spy on people and investigate them based on the theory they could be plotting violence. Every law enforcement agency has that ability. So what is this new group to fight “disinformation” if not a censorship organization?

The Department of Homeland Security is reportedly pausing the Disinformation Governance Board three weeks after its creation was challenged by Republicans.

The Washington Post’s Taylor Lorenz reports that the DHS decided to shut down the board on Monday and that its leader Nina Jankowicz had drafted a resignation letter in response to their decision.

The DHS has offered Jankowicz the chance to stay in the department, defending her in a statement to the Washington Post.

Lorenz later reported on Wednesday that Jankowicz had officially resigned.



The Biden Administration is now trying to paint Jankowicz as a victim after journalists questioned her role citing a host of questionable positions on freedom of speech and government censorship as well as cringeworthy Tik-Tok videos.

“Nina Jankowicz has been subjected to unjustified and vile personal attacks and physical threats,” a DHS spokesperson said in a statement.

“These smears leveled by bad-faith, right-wing actors against a deeply qualified expert and against efforts to better combat human smuggling and domestic terrorism are disgusting,” deputy White House press secretary Andrew Bates said in a statement.

Jankowicz was told by DHS officials to stay silent about her role in the department after she tried to defend a statement she made on Twitter about Hunter Biden.

With Republicans likely to win the majority in one or both houses of Congress next term, Jankowicz would likely be subject to more questions and congressional testimony about her role on the disinformation board.

Behind the scenes, the DHS appeared to concede the fight to save Jankowicz was over but indicated they would look for other ways to combat misinformation.

“We’re going to need another Nina down the road,” a DHS staffer said anonymously to The Washington Post. “And anyone who takes that position is going to be vulnerable to a disinformation campaign or attack.”

President Joe Biden’s new head of the Department of Homeland Security’s Disinformation Governance Board, Nina Jankowicz, appeared to sing a parody song about who to “f**k” in order to be “famous and powerful” in a resurfaced video.

“I want to be rich, famous, and powerful! Step on all my enemies and never do a thing,” Jankowicz sang to the tune of a piano, according to multiple reports.

“Who do I f**k to be famous and powerful? I’ve done everything I can and now the rest is up to you,” she appeared to add.

The song was an edited version of “My Simple Christmas Wish (Rich, Famous, and Powerful)” by David Friedman, according to the outlet. The lyrics in her version were edited to include “Who do I f**k” instead of “who do I have to fake.”

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Friday Jankowicz is an “expert on online disinformation” and was “formerly a disinformation fellow at the Wilson center,” as well as an adviser to the Ukrainian foreign minister, among other positions.

Finally some good news – maybe! The Department of Homeland Security’s recently launched Disinformation Governance Board has gone into what has been described as the “pause” mode and its controversial Director Nina Jankowicz has resigned, citing “vile personal attacks and physical threats.” Its status will reportedly be reviewed over the next 75 days and it will likely be rolled out more quietly next time around and under a different name.

The Board was developed to counter what was held to be unfair criticism of policies being promoted by the government. Ironically, however, it has recently become clear that the White House itself has been doing much of the lying. It uses the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and other government agencies to spread false information, referred to as disinformation, to dupe the public into believing that there is something good and noble about America becoming heavily involved in the war in Ukraine, with all that entails. And, of course, since the evildoers must be excoriated as that drama is playing out, good old Russia fits in admirably, particularly as the Democrats still like to pretend that it was Moscow’s interference that defeated Hillary in 2016.

A lie is a lie, but it is the ultimate irony when a government that is caught lying on a regular basis sets up an inquisition that seeks to identify and take action against ordinary citizens who are accused of spreading “disinformation.” Of course, critics on the right immediately discerned that the disinformation will consist of anything that challenges the official government line on various issues, up to including pandemics, white supremacist domestic terrorism, aborting unwanted babies, and even the march to war. Although the inept President Joe Biden Administration can rightly be accused of elevating deceit to a steady diet of malapropisms, one can trace the rise of egregious lying by heads of state to the Gulf of Tonkin incident and, more recently, to the criminal deceptions carried out by the George W. Bush Administration. Those lies led to the invasion of Iraq, which cost trillions of dollars, killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and thousands of Americans, and which is still producing unrest in the region.

So now we were to be confronted by the Disinformation Governance Board, so designated under the august authority of the Department of Homeland Security to root out disinformation and those who are seeking to disseminate falsehoods about what our noble elected officials are doing to us in Washington. Followers of George Orwell inevitably, and almost immediately, dubbed the new creation the Ministry of Truth.

The official launch documents in late April claimed that the DGB would be “protecting free speech, privacy, civil rights, & civil liberties” against the “threat of disinformation.” Its focus would be on “homeland security, focused specifically on irregular migration and Russia,” meaning that it would be discrediting any source that complains about the flood of aliens crossing the US southern border or casting doubts on the necessity of supporting America’s Ukraine “allies.” In a follow-up briefing DHS elaborated that it would monitor threat “disinformation spread by foreign states such as Russia, China and Iran, or other adversaries such as transnational criminal organizations and human smuggling organizations.”

And the board was to be headed by one Nina Jankowicz, a weird, highly politicized concoction who sang about her mission in a tweet entitled “You can just call me the Mary Poppins of disinformation” while confirming that she would be the first executive director of the DGB. She has also written a book entitled “How To Be A Woman Online.” She has worked for the National Democratic Institute, the Democratic Party affiliate of the National Endowment for Democracy that promotes democracy worldwide. She has also been a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington.

In an NPR interview responding to a question concerning Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter, Jankowicz ridiculously opined that “I shudder to think about, if free speech absolutists were taking over more platforms, what that would be like for the marginalized communities around the world…” Glenn Greenwald further described the new Disinformation Czar as having “herself ratified and helped spread virtually every disinformation campaign concocted by the union of the Democratic Party and corporate media over the last five years. Indeed, the only valid basis for calling her a ‘disinformation expert’ is that she has spread disinformation with such gusto. The most notorious of those was the pre-election lie that the authentic Hunter Biden laptop was ‘disinformation.’ She also decreed falsely that the origins of COVID were definitively proven to be zoonotic and could not have come from a lab leak, was a frequent and vocal advocate of the fraudulent Steele Dossier, and repeatedly pronounced as true all sorts of Trump/Russia collusion conspiracy theories which Robert Mueller, after conducting an intense 18-month investigation, rejected as lacking evidence to establish their truth.”

Jankowicz’s boss Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas nevertheless claimed that she was “eminently qualified,” a “renowned expert,” and politically “neutral.” But to put that in context, her rather thin actual work history, heavy on being a Democratic Party apparatchik tied to the Clintons, oddly includes a stint as a Fulbright-Clinton fellow in 2017 serving as an adviser on disinformation to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. She sports the US and Ukrainian flags next to her picture on her twitter page.

Attempts by governments to shape their message by discrediting alternative viewpoints are not exactly new. Here in the US, suppressing contrary views is nearly as old as the republic. The Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798 gave the president power to deport potentially “dangerous” foreigners and made it a crime to print “any false, scandalous, and malicious writing” about the government. President John Adams supported these laws because he wanted to prevent a war with France, quite the reverse of what the Biden regime is seeking to do as it mobilizes against Russia. Vice President Thomas Jefferson was openly disgusted by the unconstitutional acts, which probably contributed to his election as president in 1800.

The Acts were subsequently allowed to expire and were never reviewed by the Supreme Court, but there is also the later example of the Committee for Public Information which was used by the government to support the war party line in World War One. There followed the Espionage Act of 1918, which is still in effect, that was used liberally by President Woodrow Wilson to silence critics of American entry into the war. The definition of what constitutes “espionage” was deliberately made infinitely elastic and the Act is still in use against whistleblowers and presumably also Julian Assange.

Given the language connected with the launch of the Disinformation Government Board, it might reasonably be assumed that it would have surely sought to suppress “malicious writing” and speech relating to the Biden sponsored wave of illegal immigration along the country’s southern border that has driven America’s foreign-born population to a record 46.6 million people. And, in addition to an increase in arriving Afghans, which was actually written into the bill proposing $33 billion more for Ukraine, there will surely be more Ukrainian migrants. Jewish organizations in the US, Europe and Israel are already actively bringing in co-religionists. Given political realities, displaced Ukrainian Jews will likely be quietly given refugee status granting them full benefits to include housing and welfare payments.

Not surprisingly, the surging wave of immigration is highly unpopular among working people who are already established, even among many Democrats, and the Biden response will be to compel the bad vibes go away, literally, by openly labeling critics as liars peddling disinformation. Whether there will be actual criminal or civil penalties attached to the process remains to be seen when the board is most likely resurrected under another name.

And, of course, the likes of Senator Rand Paul, Congressman Tom Massie, journalist Tucker Carlson and former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard would have their views on the developing catastrophe in Ukraine challenged and denigrated, to include possibly arranging for their banning from social media sites, which is already being done to some critics. The fact is that we do not know at this point exactly what the new Board will eventually be empowered to do, but one can count on the results being bad, destructive both of the First Amendment and of honest journalism in the United States.

The ability of the government to collude with corporate America to diminish personal liberty of the citizenry cannot be understated. We have already seen corporations that operate on the internet proactively terminating accounts that it considers politically unacceptable. Consortium News, a perfect respectable site of long standing that has a splendid record of investigative journalism, was recently delisted by PayPal, which took the further step of confiscating its nearly $10,000 of funds with the threat that the money might be retained by PayPal as an additional punishment.

The reality is that the government can unleash its thousands of lawyers to make a case against nearly every citizen who is politically active. Which is why the Biden Administration has already been criminalizing and/or sanctioning any foreign organization that has “interfered in or undermined public confidence in United States elections,” as if the two major parties are not already doing that quite effectively all by themselves. If that is truly a crime why aren’t Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell being sanctioned?

In my own experience, I have dealt with threatened punishment regarding my contributing to and participating in the activities of an Iranian NGO and a Russian information site. Neither organization can plausibly regarded as a threat to the United States, though they both were highly critical of US government policies, as am I. In one case, American participants in a conference overseas organized by the Iranians were warned that they would be arrested upon return, which currently appears to be “due process” in the US. In the case of the Russian site, the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) advised that any American writing for the site could be fined as much as $311,562!

The unfortunate reality is that the real damage is being done through the employment of government driven restrictions punishing ordinary citizens who are exercising their right of free speech and free association. It is easy to claim that a foreign news service or NGO is “undermining confidence in US elections” as it is a charge that one need not have to prove. Indeed, it is unprovable and it is a weapon that can be used to manage dissent and to narrow the bounds of acceptable discourse. The question becomes whether and to what extent the successor to the now paused Disinformation Governance Board will attempt to apply similar standards to Americans. One might suggest that the barring of dissident US journalists and political figures from social media sites and from funding mechanisms like PayPal is the first shot to be fired in a long struggle over what is “truth” that will play out over the next two years.
