I came back from a year or 2 in Asia back in the 90s and my brother told me there was this really crazy TV show on a game show where at the end of the show the couple Got engaged to the winner of the show.
So I watched this show called The Bachelor for one season. Honestly I could get why a man would want to be on the show. He got a lot of female attention and some of the girls were what I might call marriageably good looking.
Then they started taking one of the girls who got rejected from the bachelor and making her the bachelorette. I really did not get that show. I hadn't sat down and watch the hole season avid but I've seen him episode here in there. But I don't get why guys would want to compete like that. Women are hypergamous and if they see that a man gets a lot of female attention that makes some more attractive.
But a woman too eager to receive too much male attention of the wrong time seems kind of slutty to me, Especially on this show where some of them actually sleep with their fellow contestants. Or if not that the girl is making out with some guy then goes on a date with his other guy and puts the first guy's slobber on the second guy's mouth.
So this morning I was thinking about it and I looked at a picture of all the bachelorettes from that TV show. One thing I did not get about the show is I did not find a lot of the Women that they chose especially attractive. It's not like they were all bad looking if you saw the walk in down the street but it wasn't always the type of woman who you would say well look at her I might marry her. Just looking at the pictures I saw 2 or 3 that might be really good looking and attention getters just for my perspective. But I was particular about looks as a young man looking for a wife and not every man is particular and not every type of looks appeal to every guy.
Now I get why guys would want to be on the show. And I suppose I could see why the woman would want to be the Bachelorette. And the woman has to suffer for through an episode of being on the Bachelor and crying in the car and getting everyone's sympathy and being a favorite before she can make all the big bucks and get so reality TV famous so she can be the Bachelorette.
I suppose I get why a woman in her 20s with what TV producers to pay for trips around the world. But if they're on the bachelor then they have to share rooms with other catty females and probably have an exhausting filming schedule if they're a favorite of the bachelor. And they have to take time off work which could be detrimental to whatever job they have so they have a decent career then I just don't get going on the shell from a logical perspective.
The weird thing is some women think that this is romantic when the actual reality is they're competing for some guy and getting to travel the world but with all of these drunk argumentative women and a lot of here's over the guy like it's another girl.
But men doing that with a bunch of other whiny men? Whining about each other not doing it for the right reasons and stupid stuff like that? The men on this show having catty girl fights of the verbal variety is weird.
I just looked it up and there were only 4 of the couples who are proposal was made that are still together and I think there are 40 or 50 seasons of these 2 shows put together. So the real success rate is extremely low. Getting engaged is a really serious thing not some sort of publicityies not to do for TV and then break it off.
There's also that married at first sight show we're supposed to experts match people up. They have a high divorce rate too. I think if someone was able to meet a random woman on the street get her to go on a first date and propose on the first date he'd probably have a better chance of staying married to her for life than a contestant on married at first sight. The very least he would get to screen her for looks and maybe just a little bit of personality. One real reason that people on that show get divorced is they don't screen them to only choose people who don't believe in divorce. That is really bad and defrauding when 1 person goes into it committing for life and then the other gives him the cold shoulder and divorces him.
But if someone is serious about marriage why would they go on this TV show with its bad track record.
I did this with speech to text in case there are bunch of errors keep that in mind.
