Istanbul Oct.19-27: My experience and observations

To get right to it, Istanbul was AMAZING. It truly was a fascinating city and I had a great time. It was both modern and ancient which made it quite unique.

Food
The food was good and healthy. Especially the fish sandwiches near the Galata Bridge. Fresh fish cooked on a grilled then put on a roll with tomatoes, mint, and spices. Good stuff! Also the Döner was tasty. The best one I had was from a place called Hat Döner.

The People
Turks are very friendly, helpful, reserved and just very warm people. I bought a pair of shoes for 75 TL from one guy and I gave him 100 TL. He gave me back 30 TL and said from me to you. Very nice man. That would never happen here in the US. People seemed to be really enjoying life. There were couples walking and holding hands having a good time, families out enjoying the day together, men fishing on the Galata Bridge, people taking the Ferry to the Asian side, and people going to the mosques to pray.

Turkish women
WOW! Let me tell you fellas. Turkish women are naturally beautiful with the exception of some here and there that are very plain looking. The majority of the women I saw did not wear make up. If they did it wasn't much. They were very feminine and modest with shapely lower bodies with thin waists. I didn't see one fat woman while I was there. Most of them have jet black dark features and hair, which I LOVE, and of course blondes, dark brown, brunettes, etc. It was nothing but pure eye candy over there. They all seemed to be well mannered and carried themselves the way women should conduct themselves. They are DEFINITELY wife material. I couldn't see a Turkish woman ever raising her voice at her husband or anyone in general. They all seemed to have a pleasant disposition which was refreshing to see. I had a few chances also to talk to a few of them. They made eye contact with me and made it known. Something else which was refreshing. They made their attraction known without making it seem like it was a crime. The only thing that held me back from talking to them was the language barrier. All of them were my type in attractiveness, femininity, and their body type. I met a Turkish guy over there and we hung out for a few hours and he told me if a Turkish girl feels you're absolutely serious about being with her she will never leave you and it wouldn't matter if you weren't Muslim. They will cleave to you if you're heart is for them only and fellas I told him just from being here a few hours I instantly sensed that in them. They seemed to be very loyal and committed. Those that I saw with their boyfriend or husband. I would say if you get a Turkish woman you're good to go.

The Hostel
The hostel I stayed in was called the Harmony Hostel which was excellent.

That's it fellas. It was an awesome experience and I hope to return some time in the future. If you guys have any questions just send me a PM. One member on here asked me if everything shuts down during prayer. Nothing shuts down. So if anyone wants to go in the near future you don't have to worry about this. I highly recommend this fascinating city. If you do decide to go I'm sure you'll love it.

Thanks for your post, OTB! When I was in the military, I heard from another Air Force soldier stationed in Turkey that Turkish women were very attractive! I wanted to be stationed there myself, but got diverted to England instead. The Air Force has two bases in Turkey: one in Izmir, and the other in Incirlik. I think I would've had a great time there like you did!

You sure sound happy - I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. Just a couple of points: It'a a long way to go just for a week, but I guess you have work so you can't stay forever. I'm glad you never brought cheap kekabs for one lira like I did when I was there. Couldn't you find a hotel to get a room to yourself for around the same money as a hostel? I'm too old to sleep with 18 year old club kids in hostels now.

Turkey is pretty popular with British tourists - my mom has been there a couple of times. It's really cheap being outside the Euro zone.

I was at Uni with a really hot Turkish girl, she was really stunning.

Yes there are Muslims in Turkey but don't let that put you off - they tend to be pretty moderate, like my Moroccan friends who are happy to drink beer, eat bacon and generally do stuff Western people like to do.
