For me personally, I pay $250 for a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo on the 3rd floor with a great balcony view and access to 2 outdoor swimming pools. And I get to see hot girls everywhere I walk around and they smile at me. Why would I live in America?
There are some very intelligent comments that are better than the video itself:
This one is rich:
As someone who lived in Asia for a while while making significant money, its much better quality of life for the dollar in Asia.
Not to mention the western women are extremely low quality, as a matter of fact, western women coined this.
People in Asia didnt coin this word, but in Thailand for example, they call them Farang Kinooks or Dogshit Foreigners.
That being said I also tried to support local business, doing charity, and integrate by speaking Tiéng Việt and immersing, not everyone does that.
But all that to say LBH is definitely a term coined by bitter western women who are shocked when they come to Asia and dont get the attention theyre used to. Ive seen countless videos of these women bashing Asian women and calling them less than simply because they no longer have power over the western men.
Its just not worth it to deal with western minded women and more and more men are waking up to that reality.
"Why would a successful person move to a developing country?" That's an incredibly stupid question that would only be asked by someone completely ignorant of geopolitics and economics. The "Developed" world is rapidly becoming nothing more than bankrupt, dystopian police states. Developing nations are on their way UP instead of DOWN, and for many, the lifestyle is a huge improvement, even before considering a lower cost of living.
"Losers?" Charlie Munger (the billionaire) would tell you a loser is someone who doesn't know value when they see it.
What? Living in paradise for a fraction of the cost, with less stress, less of the Western madness, and surrounded by beautiful Asian women who hold more traditional values… that’s a dream life at home that many wish they could have, but only a few actually make happen. If that makes me a “loser” in the eyes of Asians who’ve never spent a single day in the often depressing reality of Western society, then call me a loser all you want — I really don’t care. Ironically, those guys are seen in the West as the ones who made it.
I think only foreigners call other foreigners this, especially the women.
The average American has less than $100 in the bank and lives from paycheck to paycheck. The expats in Southeast Asia was able to purchase a plane ticket, had some reserves and the retired guys have a revenue stream. So they do not belong to the social group you alluded to. A teacher who has two other jobs in Canada is not a loser.
Just like businesses move to foreign countries, its called arbitrage...
I'm 36 and already have substantial passive income for the rest of my life that is continuously growing and beating inflation.. I don't work at all and want for nothing. I can't tell you how many people (majority women) called me a loser while I was still living in the US because I was very frugal and meager and didn't have anything to "show off".. I've been doing for the past year what these "winners" dream of doing, but have accomplished it 30 years sooner. It took me a long time to realize people's perceptions and opinions matter very little to me in the grand scheme of my life.
Does this only apply to male expats or is there another label for women expats?
I always thought the phrase was a bit small minded. And its something ive heard for about a decade when I started traveling to SEA. I think it's a life hack personally. You're not supposed to be able to bring western income to a more affordable cost of living destination. The people who do gamed the system imo and I did that for a few years.
Think about it like this. Why would you pay $2000 per month for a lesser apartment when you can pay $500 per month for a better one. I personally couldn't get past that once I found out what the cost differences were...
