Berwyn, Il = Little Toronto!

I saw the Chicago suburb of Berwyn pretty recently during a tour, and traveller's posts about Berwyn are no joke! Berwyn is like a Ku Klux Klan town! And Berwyn is a miniature version of Toronto, Ontario.

In Toronto, it's illegal for guys to be out in public without a woman and without a group. In Berwyn, it's also illegal for guys to be out alone, and it's also illegal for guys to even be out on the streets in broad daylight during school days!

In Toronto, guys that glance in the general direction of a woman get arrested and thrown in jail. In Berwyn, guys get threatened and rumors are, some even get arrested for glancing in the direction of a woman.

In Toronto, guys get arrested and thrown in jail even for eating out alone at a restaurant, and Toronto restaurants and bars enforce a strict "No Single Men" policy. Restaurants and bars in Berwyn have that exact same policy, and rumors are, guys have also been arrested in Berwyn for being alone at a bar or restaurant, and some of them have even ended up in jail.

In Toronto, guys riding the bus often end up at Toronto East Detention center. In Berwyn, a growing number of lone guys riding public transportation are getting arrested and taken to Cook County Jail.

In Toronto, cheerleaders that interact with guys get both the guys and the cheerleaders arrested and thrown in jail by the Toronto Police Department. In Berwyn, cheerleaders at the local high school (I think it's probably Morton West High School according to traveller) are forbidden to interact with guys, and like in Toronto, it's enforced to a degree by the Berwyn Police Department.

No doubt, the Chicago suburb of Berwyn is officially classified as Little Toronto.

And to make matters worse, Berwyn is a Sundown town! In Berwyn, non-whites are forbidden to be out on the streets after sunset. Methods of exclusion in Berwyn include violent expulsion, threat of violence, violence towards newcomers, police or other official action including jail, and private bad behavior. Blacks are harmed the worst in Berwyn, where blacks are labeled "monkeys," "sub-humans," and "apes." Single guys and guys that go out alone are treated almost as badly as blacks in Berwyn. There are also rumors that DuPage County, Illinois is a Sundown County.
