Can anyone explain the height change at Oregon Vortex?

Yes, that is a convincing explanation. But, the neat thing is that a tilted landscape can occur in nature that gives you that optical illusion.

The human eye constructs its reality from lines and angles and can be tricked. We don't see reality, but rather an interpretation of reality after it passes through hard wired neural networks that put together lines and angles to construct a scene.

Check out the photos here taken by a visitor to the Oregon Vortex. They show that the background has nothing to do with the height change.

How do you know? The land is tilted at an angle, but you can't see what is behind the curtain like you could see in your video where they pan back and show the trick.

Look at everyone's shadow.

The plank is closer to the two camera points at its right.

The background slopes up to the railing.

The railing is laid to enable the illusion.

I already told you, the background doesn't matter. You don't even have to look at the background. The height of the people on both sides change when they change position. You can see it in this photo comparison below. The difference is objective and measurable.

No that doesn't hold water. No matter where you position the camera, the height change is noticeable. Come on now. If the camera angle made a difference, then there would be no mystery. Everyone would solve it right away. You are grasping at straws. And as shown above, the background doesn't make a difference. That's a skeptical myth that doesn't hold water.

Some people are adverse to mysteries for some reason. They need to live in a universe where everything is predictable and conforms to known laws of science. It's psychological. Some people can't embrace mysteries.

To Momopi and HouseMD:

Since you two are good at science, do you have an explanation for the above phenomenon?

I've heard others talk about this but I've never been there myself. I'd have to go there in person and experience it myself to get an intuitive sense of what might be going there.

There's a basic rundown of the plank illusion. The big tip of should be that they tell you where to put the camera to see the effect since "only cameras can see it" lol. Even in the video, the planks appear to be different heights despite being the same (someone had measured them), so obviously a person would have the same effect happen to them from an illusory perspective. The only thing I find curious is the magnetic effects. It's likely there are one or more large magnets buried there, but they've never let anyone do any mapping or digging around.
