Did YOU ever feel mad at God for things before?

Post by vlkmo »

I am talking about God especially in the Christian context, but to a much less extent I guess it can apply to all conceptions of God. Did anyone on here ever feel mad or upset at God because of misfortune or things that are outside of your control? There have been times when I was, both consciously and subconsciously. I know that God isn't directly responsible for bad things and that is the devil, but he allows the devil and his influence to run rampant with no seeming end in sight. @Winston created a couple threads about the influence of good v. evil in our world. I sympathize with some of his frustration.

Yes I think that many people blame God for all their problems, pain, suffering and injustice in life. But they don't admit it. Because it's taboo to blame God for bad things. You are only allowed to thank God for things that go well, but not allowed to blame him for things that go wrong. It's a classic double standard. That's why people are weird.

Basic logic also says that the creator is responsible for his creation. Hence you have a right to blame the creator if he is top dog in the chain of authority. Just like you have a right to blame Bill Gates for problems with Microsoft products. It's basic logic, but no one seems to have basic logic about these things when it comes to God.

A CEO is responsible for everything that happens in his company. Everyone knows that. No CEO can get away with blaming all his staff and claiming to be perfect. No one would accept that. The board of directors would fire him if he said that. But somehow the God of the Bible gets away with it. Very weird and illogical.

The problem of evil is indeed alive and well, and still vigorously debated among certain philosophers. Why does God allow so much suffering? I'm not perfect, but I'm not THAT bad. Etc..but it's still a very good point to make. The problem of evil may be debated on a large scale, macro level, but for small, subjective, personal failure, gods incompetence is usually left out.

No, because it is all temporary, life is temporary, I have another 30 years or so left, a nothing timeframe. No use getting mad when most of us are going through the same turmoils. No-one escapes it - though some have it worse than others.

Elon Musk - one of the richest men on the planet - is unhappy all the time and is basically now a drug addict to deal with it. As much of a 'genius' as he is. He doesn't get life is a challenge, it's meant to be hard, it is hard and you got to get through it.

If you believe in the theory of 'NPC's' then you understand the basics of what this is about. It's a hard game on a hard level that you're playing and it's not meant to be easy for you, there's no such thing as an 'easy' marathon run or an easy scaling of Everest - it's meant to be hard and why do people do these things even though it's hard and sometimes people die doing them because that's what makes it exciting, standing there at the end that you have completed it. Who thinks about 'winning' the London Marathon? Very few people, the vast majority who enter it, completing it is 'winning' even if they come last, life is no different, if you complete it, you have won.

You're in a game and until now, you have completed all the levels set for you, whatever has happened hasn't killed you and hasn't stopped you going forward, just keep going. It's not going to get any easier though because that's the game. There are no easy parts of climing Everest, same thing with life.
