Fetch-A-Tech in Las Vegas tried to scam me out of $15,000/$2,700 for HVAC repairs!

Post by Winston »

Complaint I posted on Yelp about Fetch-A-Tech:

https://www.yelp.com/biz/fetch-a-tech-l ... ZWjIUIghdg

Mr. William Harris was nice, courteous and professional. However he tried to overcharge me by 300 percent. He wanted $2700 to replace the furnace motor (See the invoice that you emailed me) or $15,000 to install a new HVAC system. Of course he tried to nudge me toward the 15k solution. (Gee I wonder why) Thus putting me between a rock and hard place. Totally unreasonable. I just wanted it fixed so the house can be warm again, not to be scammed to the extreme like that. He also said the control board was fried too (See invoice screenshot below), but when I called another repairman for a second opinion, he said the control board was fine. Hence Harris must have tried to deceive me. I don't appreciate that. That's not nice. I thought Americans were honest with Christian values?

Also, upon further research on Google I found out that furnace repair should cost between 300 and 1000 dollars at most in 2022, according to sites like Forbes and HomeGuide, etc. So 2700 dollars is way off by 3 times the high end. I don't understand how someone can be that extreme like a bloodthirsty shark to charge me TRIPLE price? Do all your techs do this, or is Harris a rogue tech? Other companies I called said they could fix my furnace for 900. That's still a lot, but it's one third of what Mr. Harris wanted. See the invoice he sent me for proof. (In Asia, a service repairman can fix most things in your house for 30 dollars or less, so service repair costs in the US are crazy and insane!) I ended up having another company fix it for 900 dollars. All they did was replace the blower motor. The rest of the furnace was fine. Geez.

Moreover, people told me that to replace an entire HVAC system (which I didn't even need) costs about $5,000. Not $15,000. So even this figure by Mr. Harris is TRIPLE what it should be! Wow. He must have been going for the high roller, rather than being humble or modest! How do people like this sleep at night? How come they have no shame? I sure could not sleep at night if I did that.

As a rule of thumb, truth should be simple and to the point, but both your techs that came to our house used a lot of techno babble to confuse me, which is a red flag and means they are trying to confuse me in order for me to pay for unnecessary repairs. Good honest repairmen usually explain things simply and to the point without techno babble. A few months ago, Jimmie Rivera (another Fetch-A-Tech repairman) during an AC tune up, wanted an extra 400 dollars just to top off the coolant in the HVAC, which makes no sense when I researched it.

This doesn't look good for Fetch-A-Tech. Just being honest. I don't mean to offend anyone but these conclusions are inescapable. I'm pretty shocked. I thought Americans were hoenst and had Christian values. This is very disappointing. I would like an apology for this deception and cruel attempt at scamming me for $15,000 or $2700, both of which are outrageous and way out of the ball park. I've attached a screenshot of the invoice they sent me for 2700 dollars (yikes!).

Fetch-A-Tech website below. As you can see it looks very nice and professional. So how can they sink that low and act like bloodthirsty sharks?!

Any of you have any experiences with HVAC repairmen? If so, what was it like? How do you find honest repairmen? It seems every company in America wants to overchrage nowadays. Very sad. In Asia, this kind of thing costs around $30 total or less, to call a repairman to come fix something in your house, most of the time that is.

This is not surprising nowadays. Our country is descending into a third-world country. The quality of everything is declining. You live in Las Vegas right? It is known as "Sin City" and is a sanctuary city for illegal aliens. And you also have said that it is the most toxic place in the world, right? Vegas is a bad place. I would definitely expect to get scammed there nowadays.

So even local repairmen in the local parts of Vegas scam too? Everyone scams? What is the sin in Vegas actually? lol. I don't get it. I thought only casinos scam you. Local businesses in the Vegas suburbs do too?

What if I went to other parts of America? They wouldn't scam me? Especially small towns?

I also need to change the shocks and struts on my car. But every auto shop I asked here wants over $2000 for it. Ridiculous. Is there any way to do it cheaper?

I'm just saying it's not surprising...because it's Vegas and it's 2022.

The sins in Vegas are:

- Drug and alcohol use: Intoxication/drunkenness;

- Sexual impurity and debauchery: Strip clubs (idolizing the physical female body), fornication (having sex outside of wedlock), adultery (having sex with another person while already married to one), prostitution (illegal). Sexual purity, on the other hand, would be marrying a virgin girl and having sex in the context of marriage;

- Gluttony (eating to excess): Heart Attack Grill, for example, and all-you-can-eat buffets;

- Gambling (attempting to receive money without having to put forth a proportional effort in order to earn it).

The "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" motto implies Vegas is a place where one can engage in socially disapproved of acts (sinful behavior) safely. It is a place where people behave wrongly...it's not a good place. I would expect interactions with people to be troublesome there.

But Dan. How do I get laid in America? It seems like women only want you if you are married and want to tempt you into adultery, but if you are single, you are ignored. Kind of like a credit card, if you have one it's easier to get another one. So women want married men, not single men, because married men already have someone, and women only want men who have someone. If you are single, no one wants you in America. It's weird.

I don't see any opportunities to have sex in Vegas. Neighbors don't even talk to you, they stay inside and look paranoid of others. No one talks to anyone they don't know. It's 100 percent cliquish. You can't meet people naturally because there's a paranoid vibe and everyone looks afraid to talk to you. So how do you commit adultery or fornication or any sin at all with women? I don't get it. It's an oxymoron.

Dan,
I don't think you understand my point. Tijuana, Mexico, and Angeles City, Philippines, have a lot of hedonism, gluttony, sin, casinos, sex, prostitution, P4P, too. However, there is no social disconnection there. Women are approachable and into men. They don't treat you like you don't exist, like women in Vegas do. You aren't socially disconnected or isolated. It's not unfriendly. There is no cold unfriendly ice wall between strangers like in Vegas. Hence, Tijuana and Angeles City are still fun, friendly, positive places, where you get POSITIVE energy from women. Do you see what I mean?

So just because a place has sin or hedonism or sex for sale, etc doesn't make it bad. It can still be a fun positive friendly place. Even though Tijuana is not a safe place, still people do not treat me there like I don't exist. Do you see my point?

When I click the link it says This review is no longer available.

Also why is it that either the reviews are extremely positive or extremely negative?

Keep in mind the guy only gave you a quote. You are free to get other quotes from other companies. They didn't scam you.

Are you sure? When I click the link I still see my review. Is it only visible to me? Maybe it's in some moderation queue waiting to be approved?

Yeah he only gave me a quote. However, the point is that he TRIED to scam me. If I gave in and was stupid as he hoped, then yeah I would have been scammed. People shouldn't get scammed just because they are stupid. Not everyone is born smart. People should not be penalized for being stupid or gullible.

Well let me ask you this. If I tried to kill you and I failed and you survived, does that make me innocent of any wrongdoing, just because the attempt failed? Do you see what I mean?

Moreover, did you see the invoice in the image above in the first post? He said the control board was broken too and wanted $1200 to fix it. However, when another repairman came, he said the control board was fine. So obviously the Fetch-A-Tech guy LIED right? Isn't that wrong? I thought Americans were honest with Christian values. They don't usually scam, except in Vegas where everyone is greedy as f**k it seems.

@Winston This is a real question to you. This is serious. Can you answer the following question? Are you living in some kind of fantasy world in your mind where reality is supposed to be a "Leave it to Beaver" episode or Andy Griffith episode? Is that the world you live in?

But in our group @GoingAwol said that one of the things he likes about America is that you can rest assured that people are honest in business and don't cheat each other. That's true in general I guess, like in mom and pop stores. He lives in TN too. Compared to SE Asia I guess that's true, however when Americans do scam you, they go for thousands of dollars, not just a few extra dollars like those in SE Asia do.

Has anyone in TN ever tried to scam you?

You didn't answer my question. You keep posting with these movies that you watch and think that's what life is supposed to be like. So can you now answer the question. Are you living in a fantasy world in your mind. That's the question. Answer.
