Lived in Hong Kong 1 year, can't wait to go back

Hello everyone,

I'm a 32 year old, 6'1 white male that just came back from living in Asia for an entire year. I really loved the culture and can't wait to go back. The women there are much more friendly and I got 10x the attention there than I do in the US. If finding a quality mate is a top priority for you, then I definitely recommend you go abroad.

In Hk there are many British pubs where the women go to meet foreign guys and actually have to pay to get in while foreign men are let in for free. It was like fishing with dynamite!

I have many pictures and I will post them soon. I have dated Chinese, Filipina and Indonesian. I want to go back, but finding a company that will sponsor you for a working Visa is not easy.

I'm also curious about expat life in Singapore so if anyone has any experience there I would love to hear about it!

Fishing with dynamite may actually not be any better than fishing with you're bare hands. It depends not only on the size of the sea in which you are fishing but also on the density of fish in it. Using dynamite to fish in a vast sea with little edible fish, is pretty much a waste of time compared to a small pond using your bare hands.

I've heard Hong Kong females, though, are much more feminist, picky and materialistic than Mainland Chinese girls. I don't know how true that is--but I've been told by many expats similar things as well...

You're a tall, decent-looking White guy so I can see why you had great time there. But would someone not as wealthy, tall or attractive--not to mention non-White (a Black, Arab or Asian man)--do as well there? I'm not sure. ..

RedMenace - there were many edible fish in Hk as it is one of the worlds leading international financial centers and has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world.

One of the women I dated was a very attractive 27 year old and owned her own engineering business with 10 employees. Her business had a contract with the government to fix electrical and ventilation systems in gov buildings.

You will definitely date "out of your league" if you go to Asia. I know I wouldn't have that possibility here in the US.

I have been encouraging my close male friends to do what I did.

Travelin Man, you seem like the type who would really like Taiwan and Taiwanese women.

You should definitely talk to Rock on this forum, who's a big-time aficionado of Taiwanese women.

I myself have been to both Hong Kong and Taiwan, but personally find the Indonesians and Filipinas in both places to vibe with me more, despite my background as a Taiwanese American.

Taco - Most of the women I've dated were from Hong Kong, Indonesia or Filipines. I did meet a mainland Chinese girl online which traveled a few hours from Shenzhen to spend the weekend with me in Hk so don't buy into the whole "Chinese women are conservative" thing, because I know different.

Zboy1 - My guess would be no as I've heard from the girls I dated negative comments about dark skinned men. The mainland Chinese girl that came to visit me had just come back from a trip to France and made comments about never wanting to go back because "there are too many black people there". I also heard negative comments about Indian men in the city.

E Irizarry R&B Singer - I can only speak from my experience, but I did meet and became friends with an Asian-Canadian guy who seemed to do really with Indonesian women and had a couple girlfriends.

Falcon - I'm definitely intending on going back there and Taiwan and Singapore are on my list. What was your experience like in Taiwan? Was it easy for you to meet people or was there a language barrier?

Chinese guys won't come within a hundred yards of an overachieving Chinese woman, it makes them lose face. The only guys that will date these wealthy, hot, sex starved women are western men. Also, all the rich Chinese businessmen in HK have girlfriends in Shenzhen so the HK women get left behind.

Let's not confuse average or below average with hot. To the horny eye of most western men 80% of asian women are "hot" to some degree because they aren't obese and don't have butter faces like a lot of white American women. In Hong Kong I saw very few "hot" women anywhere.

I appreciate the honesty, Travelin Man! Welcome to the forum, and keep us updated on your adventures. I'm in Shenzhen, China--right across the border from Hong Kong, so I should be visiting the city very soon. I hope to gauge the level of the females there and also, whether or not the city is a good place to be.

I thought Hong Kong was cold and unfriendly? That's what everyone else said. They said it was like NYC, people are in a rush and there is no eye contact. So wtf?

Even Rock, who is tall and decent looking and white, said that.

The women are supposed to be very picky and materialistic too.

Couldn't agree more. It's difficult to put into words what allows one guy to have success in Asia where another guy will fail but if you have "the it factor" you're pretty much guaranteed success with quality middle class ladies of your choice. Pick any country in Asia and the results would be the same.

IMHO, what are some of the traits they seek?

1. Kindness
2. Witty charm
3. Conservative/clean/corporate/you too are working middle class look
4. Above average clothes
5. A feeling that you'll put her needs above your needs ie lack of selfishness (which sadly eliminates many guys from this forum....sorry guys but it's true).
6. Decent looks
7. Decent earning potential
8. Decent amount of smoothness and confidence with women.
9. Go with the flow/conforming type attitude (another deal breaker for many guys on this forum). Asia is a conformist society. Few have any interest in the rebel.

You don't have to look like Brad Pitt or be 6'2" to succeed. Also have a game plan on how to meet them. Cold approach? For suckers only....get used to your success being under 5%.

IMO it's easier to spot pretty girls in Taipei than Hong Kong.
