Maybe so. It just seems that the guys could easily claim they had ample reason to believe the girl wasn't really underage and were coming to the house to check it out. After all, the pics they were shown online as well as the girl at the house were a girl in fact 20 or older. It's clearly entrapment at the very least. I would bet money most of those guys convicted themselves with their mouths. If I remember some of them sat there on camera and convicted themselves before even being arrested.

Yes, in most cases, those dopes talked and talked, made convicting them easy as pie. If you're ever arrested for anything serious, Rule number 1 should be to exercise your right to remain silent. Don't say a damn word. Give it all some thought, search for the attorney who you think can best help you, and strategize privately with him. A felony conviction in many ways ruins you for the rest of your life.

Western culture has gone in such a direction that men who are single, live alone etc. run a risk of being accused of being a pedophile, with the consequences that has. It's not just the US, but also countries such as the UK where I am. Is there a lower risk for single guys of this type of accusation in other countries, as I suspect there is? Is it pretty much a Western thing? What about the countries where it's said there's a better chance of relationships such as Russia, and South East Asia?

Yep, happened to me also.

I moved into a new place, and there was a couple next door. The guy was a decent chap, but his gf took an instant dislike to me (no real reason). She took it upon herself to tell the whole street that I was a sex offender.

I was in the process of gathering evidence, and was prepared to take her to court for defamation/slander. But then, they moved out soon after. But now the damage is done, as the neighbours are unsure of what to make of me (I'm a very private person, which doesn't help matters).

One of the reasons I'm hopefully moving out of the UK, as single men are seen as potential rapists, etc.
