The author actually touches on this.... The author says that a culture can create any image of what is a successful male so men will desperately try to emulate it just so they can have access to the women who have been also duped into believing what a successful male represents. And you figure, women don't care what the "successful" standards are because they will never be required to meet them as their job is to only take what they can get from the men who make it to the top.
This is the basis as to why/how men are exploited. Most men will do anything (i.e.,go to war, kill other men, work 80+ hours a week) to have access to sex.
Having said that, I consider the guys here on HA to be the
few smarter men who did not go along with what was valued culturally, which as a result, has saved out @** from broken hearts or going into the meat grinder.
