Beirut: Is it worth a visit?

I was also wondering if anybody has had a chance to report on Beirut over the last decade or so? I know that before the revolution and fighting of the late 70's and 80's that Beirut was a hot spot to go to, but I was wondering if it had regained it's appeal again.

Thanks, I may also try to incorporate a visit to Tel Aviv along the way if I get a chance.
