Eye strain after being online too long

Post by Winston »

Does anyone else here experience weary eyes and blurry vision after being online too long? Is it called "eyestrain"?

Are there any remedies to it?

What do office workers do about that?

Have you noticed that if you are sick or have a cold, then the eye strains occur more frequently? Why is that?

You can get those glasses, or some film to put over your screen. I think it helps. Eye strain seems to be as much a result of radiation as refresh rate. Blurry vision is usually caused by dust or frequent ejaculation. In other words stop masturbating so much.

I think it has to do with your electromagnetic field being weaker in a sick state, so the em field of the computer affects you more negatively. Practice Qi Gong to strengthen it and run the laptop on the battery as the fields are much stronger when the ac adapter is plugged in.

Thanks. What about just wearing ordinary sunglasses? Would that help?

Stop spending too much time online.

At work we take regular breaks, go to the game room to shoot some hoops, play ping-pong, take morning or afternoon tea with biscuits, or go out for a walk.

Also, we don't actually sit and look at the monitor all day while we work. On average I spend about 2 hours/day in formal meetings, plus various informal meetings with people at their offices. Large companies have a lot of phantom costs, like if you hire someone for 8 hours, you might actually get 4 hours of work out of him/her in the day.

You can also order an eye exercise DVD here to do in the mornings:

Thanks for this information. I might order the dvd, I have heard about this program a long time ago (I saw an informerical on tv a long time ago). I have been wearing contact lenses and glasses for years, maybe this course can improve my eye sight to the point where I don't need glasses or contacts.

I stare at the PC monitor all the time. I just palm my eyes, and that has been enough to relieve the strain, and improve my vision by 30%.

You gotta give your eyes some rest. They improve naturally to an extent after that.

What does it mean to "palm your eyes"?

I also have a dry eyes problem. But it only starts at night when I'm trying to sleep. It's very uncomfortable, especially when moving my eyelids feels gritty. When I wake up, my eyelids often feel sealed shut and hard to open. I hate that. I am using artificial tears eye drops to try to treat that. It relieves it a bit for a while.

Are there any other treatments or cures?

I had this problem last year in Taiwan too, but it got better after a few months. Now it's come back again.

According to various doctors I totally forgot, you basically have to rest your eyes for your vision to improve. One method is to block out all light from your eyes, using a technique called palming. You place your hands over both your eyes and cover them but don't touch them. You're told to close your eyes during this process but I keep mine open. The widely publicized method is to cross your palms like an X over your face, but I just cover them like I'm mourning a lost dog(one hand over each eye), much easier for me.

Hold this position for as long as you want. But I recommend at least 10 total minutes a day to start. Best to do it away from most light sources. You know your vision will have improved, when you can actually see your hands somewhat in the darkness and greater detail if you're near light sources.

Just search for palming for vision improvement on google, you should find lots of visual examples. :)

Some things that might help:

1) Turn down the brightness and contrast on your monitor.

2) Stop staying up late at night.

3) Let in lots of natural light into your room. It's better for your eyes.

4) If you wear contacts then take them out when you're just reading forums.

5) Use bigger font.

Quick Tip: Potent Homemade Eye Drops For Dryness, Irritation, Itching, and Various Infections

Written by Thomas Corriher Wednesday, 16 February 2011 22:33

Most people experience periodic eye problems, including infections, dryness and injuries. Eye drops are usually the first response to these situations, but the eye drops that are sold in pharmacies normally contain thimerosal (thiomersal). Thimerosal is an allergy-inflicting, mercury-containing preservative that has rightly sparked outrage for its use in vaccines. If this were not bad enough, standard eye drops contain a plethora of toxic ingredients that are designed to ensure that the solution never has bacterial growth. In other words, these chemicals are chosen specifically because they are slightly poisonous. It is par for the course with the chemical-pharmaceutical-medical industrial complex.

After becoming aware of these problems, we decided to formulate our own eye drops; with safety, simplicity, and effectiveness as our guiding principals. Our astoundingly simple formulation is more effective at relieving conditions such as conjunctivitis ("pink eye") than over-the-counter medications. The base for the eye drops is colloidal silver, which is a safe, natural anti-biotic and anti-microbial. A small amount of sea salt is then added to the colloidal silver solution to resupply the saline that is washed away, so that the resultant solution is typically painless. Sea salt should aways be used instead of table salt. Contrary to what some may assume, this results in significantly less burn, and further helps to kill infections. For most people experiencing eye irritation and dryness, the solution will cause no discomfort whatsoever.

For many, the inclusion of sea salt will have surprising results. Normal saline (made with table salt) will usually cause some discomfort in the eyes, regardless of how well it is made. Table salt is slightly toxic because of the way minerals are stripped from it during processing, and ironically, these same minerals are often resold to vitamin companies, since the body obviously needs them. They really do remove the minerals that your body needs, while making the sodium toxic in the process, and then they resell those same minerals back to us in supplements. Despite the visible mineral (dirt like) particles found in sea salt, which may seem like frightening impurities when the solution is first made, a person is actually very unlikely to experience any irritation from it.

The Recipe

3 fl. oz silver (6 U.S. Tablespoons)
A pinch of sea salt (between 1/16 and 1/8 of a teaspoon)

We recommend that the solution be disposed of after 3 weeks of storage, because the silver particles are eventually destroyed by the sea salt. Almost everyone knows that silver is typically resistant to corrosion, but this solution has almost atomic-sized silver particles that are kept in salt water for an extended period. Sea salt will destroy any metal having colloidal-sized particles, in a relatively short period of time. If you use Utopia Silver (our favorite), you will probably notice that it turns clear after complete breakdown.

Those who must use eye drops routinely due to contact lenses should know that it is possible to improve, and in some cases actually correct poor vision with improved nutrition. Sprouts (as in baby plants, not brussel sprouts) seem to be particularly helpful for the eyes. In addition, retinol, the most absorbable form of vitamin A, is found in animal sources including beef, eggs, and fish.
