Regaining confidence after an injury

Post by Cornfed »

I am well on my way to recover from an injury now. In fact, I'm pretty much OK. But there is also the mental confidence aspect. When I was damaged, at some point I realized that when I was walking down the street, if some punk 13 year old kid had wanted to beat me up, he easily could have. That really messed with my mind. It changed my self-image. Now I am trying to change it back again, but it's hard. Any advice?

If you tie your ego to your physical attributes then won't you lack confidence with anyone who can out muscle you?

I think the solution is to tie your ego to other things like intelligence, morality or work ethic.

You can also carry whatever legal weapon you are allowed to (knife, mace, taser). This may give you mental satisfaction that you can hurt or kill a bigger person than you.
