Hollywood is shit these days, and foreign films are much better in my opinion. They often have better storylines and can give an insight in to that country's culture etc. I'm wondering if anyone knows any good foreign films and if there's anywhere to watch them online?
Here are some good ones that I have seen, some of these are (or were) available on netflix:
City of God (Brazil)
Pan's Labyrinth (Spain)
Spirited Away (Japan)
Amelie (France)
Das Boot (Germany)
Caché (France)
Blue is the warmest colour (France) - This has prolonged lesbian sex scenes - you won't find much of that from Hollywood
I have not seen Caché but I can vouch that the others are all good! Especially City of God. That film is raved over by critics for a reason.
Try these:
Incendies (France, 2010)
The Lives of Others (Germany, 2006)
A Separation (Iran, 2011)
The Hunt (Denmark, 2012) <-- a Red Pill film!
Sansho the Bailiff (Japan, 1954)
The Handmaiden (Korea, 2016) <-- this one is graphic, like anything Chan-wook Park touches!
Tell No One (France, 2006)
Anything by Akira Kurosawa (Japan)
Anything by Ingmar Bergman (Sweden)
Anything by Luis Bunuel (Spain) <-- not for everyone tho
Those are my personal 3 favorite film-makers. Well, Martin Scorsese too.
Oh, if anyone wants good horror film recommendations I've got 'em. Although horror is one of my favorite genres I will not go near the trash that is mostly made. Stick with the good stuff only.
