Why do women always win over men on TV?

Post by Winston »

Question:

How come on TV, whenever there is any type of competition at all between a man and a woman, whether it be sports, board games, bets, etc. the woman ALWAYS has to be shown to win?

What is the reason for that?

But in real life, men usually win in such competitions, and so they have to play easy. I've beaten tons of women in games of all kinds, and also in debates and arguments too, so how com TV and movies never reflect that? Why can't TV reflect reality?

At first, I thought it was due to feminism, but then I realized something. Women are more influenced and susceptible to advertising, whereas men are more able to blow off advertising as BS and unnecessary and realize that they don't need what is being sold to them. Therefore, the advertising sponsors of TV shows have to appease the female audience by showing women always winning against men, because most of their purchasers are going to be female.

Is this hypothesis correct?

Also, how come comedians can make jokes about men, but not women? Whenever they compare men and women, they ALWAYS have to make it so that the women come out on top and the men look foolish in comparison. It's an unspoken rule. Why is that? What is the logic behind it?
