Hee hee. I miss my PS 3 so much. Still, at least in Thailand it's hot enough to stay out all night, instead of wrap up at home in front of the PS 3 (or 4).
I was Happier Abroad for a while but Covid killed that off.

I love video games.

But I used to be addicted to them, 5 years waited on them in my youth, I was a 300 lbs fatty all I wanted to do was play play play.....

I replaced the game controller with a dumb bell.

But I will say this, I do enjoy a good game, my favorite right now is Dark souls, I can't wait for the second one.

I haven't played AAA grade video games since about 2008. I've just had no time to really invest in them. I miss the old NES-SNES days when games took 15-30 minutes to beat. Now, the developers are asking you to devote days, even weeks, of play time to beat their games. I just don't have time for it. That's why I never even bothered to buy a 7th generation console, and most likely won't be buying an 8th gen, either.

I'll occasionally pop in Street Fighter or Tekken and fart around for about half an hour, but for the most part, my game playing these days is limited to Candy Crush Saga and Bejeweled Blitz.

Actually, I think the opposite; back in the day, games like Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior took ages to beat; now, you have games like Call of Duty or Battlefield where the single player mission lasts like 5 or 6 hours--at most--with very little re-playability. It's all about online multiplayer and shoot-em-ups now, which I can't stand. ...

Yes, that's another thing. The current philosophy seems to be that if your game doesn't center around multiplayer, then your game isn't worth $h!t. Single player modes seem to be an antiquated idea. I want to play games by myself! I spend all day surrounded by posturing @$$holes, I don't want to have to go home and be surrounded by them whilst playing my video games!

Don't get it. Video games are a waste of time, especially if you are an adult. A kid with nothing to do I can understand. But for an adult it is a total waste of time.

Are movies a waste of time? Are books? Video games are no longer merely a mindless form of entertainment like Pac Man, they are often well-written and carefully crafted pieces of art. The intricate plots and philosophical questions posed by many games are worth exploring in my opinion. Bioshock's exploration of libertarian ideals and Deus Ex: Human Revolution's look at the possible inequalities that can result via technology and transhumanism come to mind as intellectual experiences that are more fitting of an immersive, rather than passive, form of media.

Plus there are tangible benefits to even the mindless games. They improve hand-eye coordination, reaction times, and complex problem solving abilities. There has been more than one study on surgeon gamers that played video games at least three hours a week versus nongamers, and the results are astounding: a 37% reduction in surgical errors, a 27% increase in speed, and a 26% increase in overall outcomes. You're basically giving your patient substandard care if you don't get in some gaming during the week. Here's a few articles on the topic:

As to whether to purchase a PS4, I think I'm going to hold off for a bit on both next gen consoles. Waiting for them to sort out all the RROD and other issues first, because they -always- happen with the first gen of a new system.

I kinda got unglued from mainstream gaming during last gen, although some games we decent, especially on xbox. Now all I want is a pc and android and I am good. Seems like game sare becoming less interesting to me. I like dosbox and pc games though.

I'm on the same boat with you zboy1 and it seems that modern games nowadays don't have great replay valued.

Generally, women certainly take that attitude. My married male friends, without exception, are prohibited from playing video games by their wives. Sounds unbelievable, doesn't it, but it's true.

Anyway, the Playstation 4 is brilliant. I haven't loved a console this much since my Nintendo Gamecube.

How much you pay for PS4 games? Can you get them or download them for free?

Sounds like your friends are all grade A whipped. Wtf, a man does what he wants, not what a woman tells him.

When I worked in games, I played all the time. After EA destroyed the company I worked for, ai soured on the whole thing. Haven't played in years. I WANT a PS4 because that graphical quality is brilliant. I have no idea what I would DO with it, though, as modern games are too muc about action and killing and explosions. What happened to old school adventure games?

I am hoping the PS4 will be rigged to do some kind of machinima movies.
