William Hung may have been rejected from American Idol, but he found someone who gave him the only "yes" he'll ever need.
The former singer, whose season 3 audition of Ricky Martin's "She Bangs" made him one of the Internet's first viral stars, got married on June 17 in Alhambra, California, RumorFix reports.
Hung, 31, is now an administrative assistant for the L.A. County Department of Public Health.
In 2004, the then 20-year-old UC-Berkeley student sang what Simon Cowell believed to be a tone-deaf version of Martin's song.
"You can't sing, you can't dance, so what do you want me to say?" a stunned Cowell said after Hung's rendition.
"I already gave my best, and I have no regrets at all," he replied at the time.
Despite Cowell's criticism, he went on to record three albums following his spirited audition, which boasted sales of 200K, 35K, and 7K units respectively.
After his Idol infamy, Hung made various public appearances, sang the national anthem at different sporting events, appeared in several films, and had guest stints on shows like George Lopez and Arrested Development. He also scored endorsements with Ask.com, GSN, and Cingular Wireless.
"I showed that even the Average Joe could succeed," he reminisced to LA Weekly in 2012. "Though I may not have won Idol, I somehow made it and that's something I'm very grateful for."
Hung also discussed his new job. At the time, he was working as a statistical analyst for the Los Angeles County's Sheriff Department.
"My passion has always been math," he said. "It just took a while to end up as my career."
Guess he has since brought that passion to the L.A. County Department of Public Health.
Sounds like life is pretty good for William Hung.
