Why do women like 'Sex and the City'? It's so stupid

Post by Winston »

Have any of you seen the "Sex and the City" series or movies? They are so juvenile and asinine, and not even funny. What do women like about it?

There are no good characters or stories or morals in it either. What is the entertainment of it?

Even my dad enjoys it. But he is a believer of what the US media tells him.

I think its because those homely middle aged women are treated like queens in Manhattan fashion paradise by rich, sophisticated, and attractive high status males. They fuel women's sense of entitlement. Their latest movie, which my girlfriend dragged me to, was so bloody over the top. Some ultra rich middle easterner comped them on a fully expense payed trip to Aba Dhabi / Dubai via first class flights and US$23K per night accommodation just for one business meeting. They ended up offending local religious sensibilities big time but were portrayed as secret heroines to the local females towards the end. Very condescending.

I've not seen the TV shows but I've seen the first film. I liked it, don't remember it well, but I did enjoy it and usually hate this kind of stuff.

I think she was going to get married, something stupid happened, and she went to Mexico instead... that's all I can recall. I'm sure SatC wouldn't stand up to the slightest breath of critique, but it makes you smile with all its glamourous scenery and the strong friendships between the main characters. Stupid plot, but the reason why I liked it was because it was feel-good. Same with Mamma Mia. I'm yet to find a man who appreciates Mamma Mia! Silly film but made you feel happy at the end of it, a bit of nonsense escapism.

Check out one of the main characters from "Sex and the City" when she guest starred in the 1978 series "Incredible Hulk". She looked much more innocent and wholesome back then.

My ex Colombian wife would watch it, and I don't understand the appeal. But it is an effective way to transmit trashy US values to women all over the world.

You mean she doesn't look OLD and used...

That's another way of putting it. lol

But overall, people looked more wholesome back in the 70's and early 80's. There was a naturalness to people that is missing in modern America. The smiles of TV characters back then looked more wholesome too. People seemed a lot more neighborly and relaxed too. It shows on film back then, so it isn't just a case of remembering something better than it actually was.

Films also had more moving music and sentiment as well. Today's films don't have that cause they want you to be sociopathic and unfeeling. Listen to the theme tune at the end of every episode of the Incredible Hulk series of 1978. It was very sad and moving. You won't hear anything like that in today's TV programs. No moving music at all.

Btw, if that woman was already an adult back in 1978, then what is she still doing today acting like a trashy teenager in "Sex and the City"? Dang.

I think our food, psychological state as well as medicated society and overall fakeness of various cosmetic and other types of physical enhancements has led to men and women to look much different physically today than in the past. IF you look at how bodies have changed over the decades you'll notice a huge difference from perhaps the early 90's and onwards. Both men and women were much smaller and skinnier than they are nowadays and it's not all due to just eating fast food. I believe a lot of the additives and genetic modification of our food supply has altered our looks somewhat, along with the things I mentioned above.

I've finally found a decent exercise book/routine that helps one to create natural HGH in their bodies though exercising a certain way. So I think it potentially could help soften features and maintain ones youth as they age, if anyones interested. I've been doing it for about three weeks now and have noticed a difference.

American women like it because they know they are going to be that old and still single one day soon.

The Secret to Sex and the City is this:

The show was originally pitched as a group of 4 GAY MEN in Manhattan.

The writers then retooled the characters as women but left the rest of the dialogue identical otherwise.

Go watch the movies and series now, and keep this in mind.

It makes total sense.

Even how the girls behave and talk - it's how Gays behave.

Talk about insidious fag-haggery.

You are spot on with that assessment.

Sex In The City is fantasy world for western women. It reinforces that they are in control, that they can have endless supplies of money for shoes and clothes, that they can be promiscuous without consequences, and that they don't have to even be young or all that attractive to obtain all this.

Sex In The City is an offshoot of feminist orthodoxy. Women can do what they want, when they want, how they want, because, doggone it, they are women.

Three of those women are ugly, and one is just barely passable in my eyes.

That’s correct, but it just isn’t just Western women that are corruptible. This show will appeal to any woman on the planet where you can find electricity and a TV. Hollywood has the power to corrupt the entire world. Anything that can reduce Hollywood’s power and the power of the US on which it piggybacks, is good. The only place to find a good wife these days may be a woman in a conservative Muslim country.

No kidding. Dianne thought it was interesting and wanted to watch it too. I don't know why though. I don't see anything appealing about it.

I wonder if BellaRuth or Ahardy like that show too. Probably not though.
