Why are adult women virgins in the US and West so rare, even among the religious demographic?

I don't want to judge religious people, but even most otherwise devoutly Christian women in the US already have boyfriend and sexual relationships before marriage. Why is this? This is why I an no longer religious, I feel a sense of betrayl from it.
