The Truth about the Soviet Union

I visited the Soviet Union several times as a westener (Finn) in the 80's and 1990, and what I have to say is that it was basically a DISGUSTING SHITHOLE.

For example, Vyborg was a prosperous Finnish city until it was occupied by USSR in the WW2. The city's development during the USSR era was minimal and the old buildings were not taken care of. Still in 1998 the city looked like shit. I haven't visited it after that but I've heard it's getting better now (because of CAPITALISM).

Same could be said of many other Soviet cities like Tallinn and Riga, which I also visited during the Soviet times. The difference between now and then is DAY AND NIGHT.

I'm sure the education system was pretty decent in USSR, but then again it's not very bad in North Korea either!

Communism is not an efficient way to run a society. Everything communism touches gets rotten.
