There are small countries on this planet with few resources, little wealth, no army or navy, and no one invades them.

Thus it is reasonable to conclude that this dynamic could replicate in the Galaxy.

It's just hubris - we are egomaniacs to assume that anything we have is of value to aliens.

Maybe we don't have what they want and they just pass us by...

its good for people to watch more news, have a terror threat of some kind to seek more government "protection" and less freedom.

plus its always good to keep citizens ignorant that of the zillion of planets in the multiverse, theyre all assholes like these so-called government grant supported scientists.

if you master space travel, your society likely progressed thru evolutionary stages of atomic, nuclear, etc power development without total annihilation.
