Putin does not care about what the Pope in Rome says.
The only one related to a Church he might listen is the Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church,
However Patriarch Kirill is not known for peace and supportive to the Russian government.

@Yohan Do you think these proposed peace talks May 15 in Turkey are just another tactic to buy time? @Winston Do you think putin will really go to Istanbul or send down one of his doubles? he's an internationally wanted war criminal. he should be arrested right there on the spotAnother added, “putin is trying to win time, it is just empty talk of no consequence.”
Putin's demands can never be accepted by Ukraine. This is not a peace talk, this is about capitulation of Ukraine, totally unacceptable by Ukraine, all Europe, UK and other Ukraine friendly countries.Voyager1 wrote: ↑May 12th, 2025, 5:36 am

Beside those demands Russia also is asking for resignation of the entire Ukrainian government, wants new election with new politicians, prohibiting foreign military presence or aid. Russia also wants to install a pro-Moscow leader and official status to the Russian language in Ukraine.Russia demands Ukraine adopt a neutral status, renounce NATO membership, and ban the deployment of foreign troops. The draft also imposes strict limits on Ukraine’s armed forces: no more than 85,000 soldiers, 342 tanks, and 519 artillery systems. The range of Ukrainian missiles must not exceed 40 km, allowing Russian forces to deploy without the threat of strikes.
I think you seriously underestimate Patriarch Kirill. Very close friend of Putin since decades.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Tuesday he would attend talks with Russia on the war in Ukraine this week only if Vladimir Putin is also there, and goaded him by saying the Russian leader was scared to meet him face-to-face.
The Kremlin has yet to say whether Putin will take part in the talks scheduled to be held in Istanbul on Thursday, more than three years into the deadliest conflict in Europe since World War Two.
The planned talks have become the main focus of peace efforts led by U.S. President Donald Trump, who is sending senior envoys Steve Witkoff and Keith Kellogg, three sources familiar with the plans said. Trump has also offered to attend.
Zelenskiy said he wanted to negotiate an unconditional 30-day ceasefire as the first step towards ending the war, and that Putin must take part in talks because "absolutely everything in Russia" depends on him.
