Russia's Invasion of Ukraine, aka "Putin's Special Operation"
Re: Russia's Invasion of Ukraine, aka "Putin's Special Operation"
WION news admits that Zelensky and Putin may not meet each other as Trump had hoped. I agree. They're not gonna meet each other. That's gullible of Trump to suggest it. Because both Zelensky and Putin want to kill each other. So it's dangerous for them to be in the same room together. So of course they should not meet in person. Both Zelensky and Putin want to kill each other and may carry hidden weapons into the meeting such as poison darts hidden in their pens or invisible weapons like those in James Bond movies, etc.

Putin is not going to change and Zelensky is not going to change his position. A meeting is not going to change anything. Trump is naive if he thinks it will.
Re: Russia's Invasion of Ukraine, aka "Putin's Special Operation"
Wow Alexander Stubbs, the PM of Finland, has a practical solution for Zelensky based on what Finland experienced during WW2 that makes sense. Check it out. Zelensky should follow this solution. What you think @Yohan?

Re: Russia's Invasion of Ukraine, aka "Putin's Special Operation"
Russian people in Ukraine are so ethnically speaking and are usually those who moved there from Russia in the 1930s- 1950's. During that time, the main language anywhere in USSR was Russian. So no problem as they grew up using Russian and their children born there- same way.Sorry I meant Russian people living in Ukraine. That's what Lavrov meant. Isn't it true that the Russian language is banned in Ukraine? Why would Lavrov say that? Maybe he means Russian is banned in Ukraine schools and media? Why don't the Russian people in Ukraine just move back to Russia then?
When Ukraine became independent, those ethnic Russians ( but now citizens of Ukraine) were asked to do official things in the national language. Education, legal things, instructions, and text books would now be in Ukrainian. And a lot of them were not good at Ukrainian. They had to study it under USSR but they were not fluent. So, they began protesting that they could no longer read instructions, and they could not understand legal or business documents, and that their kids were in schools not understanding the textbooks. Some started demanding that all the officialdom be bilingual or just in Russian. The UA gov't said . " You can speak the language in daily life, but there must be national unity. How can you have a Ukrainian history or social study book in Russian or any classes teaching patriotism taught in a foreign language. In Germany, schools run in German, in France, they run in French, etc. Why is this an unreasonable policy?"
The same was happening in the Baltics. Most Russians living there all their lives never bothered to learn the language and became encysted in the local society as a foreign element creating a lot of resentment. They were still acting like colonizers. Kind of like the English/Anglos. Except that English meant money and jobs, but Russian meant nothing.
As far as Russian being banned, it is not banned in daily life. You can speak it anywhere, and half of Kyiv speaks it in daily life. It is just easier to speak. But anything official must be in the national language. And people just code switch and no problem.
Why don't they move to Russia then? That will mean selling their house and going to a country where they are not citizens. Uprooting their kids. It will take money. And when they arrive in Russia, they will discover that they are foreigners there. No one sees them as Russians.
So, why is Lavrov talking about protecting " Russian people" who are not Russian if they go to Russia?
He needs an excuse to occupy those lands. Why does he need them? There are lots of gas, coal, etc there. Russia wants those resources.
As far as " protecting" "Russian people", the Russian speaking areas of UA get bombed the most. Russians killed more Russian speaking Ukrainians than anybody.
So he is just talking thru his ass.
A brain is a terrible thing to wash!
Re: Russia's Invasion of Ukraine, aka "Putin's Special Operation"
It does not make any sense nowadays, as he does not mention that Finland is now a NATO member - Finland decided quickly to give up its neutrality because of the Russian invasion into Ukraine. Finland understood that its neutrality does not offer any protection.
Sweden did the same, to give up its neutrality and also joined NATO. Both countries received serious threats of military intervention from Putin after he invaded Ukraine which is not a NATO member. Sweden has not even a land border to Russia.
Both countries ignored Putin's threats and joined NATO nevertheless.
-----
It is said that NATO is such a weak organization and barely able to defend its members in case of a war. I wonder if this is true, because it seems Putin does not feel very comfortable, he is always worried about that Ukraine one day might be allowed to become not only an EU-member, but a NATO member as well.
About Ukraine, it might take decades to become a NATO member, as EU-countries are willing to help to stop the Russian invasion. EU is not such a weak organization witn more than 450 million citizens and its productivity outnumbers easily those of Russia.
The only peace possible requires all Russian military to leave all Ukraine territory for good, back to Russia.
If not, the war will continue.

I wonder how Trump will react seeing that Russia/putin targeted this American companyLast night, Russians attacked the Zakarpattia region with missiles. The targets included a US-owned household appliance factory in Mukachevo, according to the Zakarpattia Regional Military Administration head Myroslav Biletskyi, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

The one part Trump is right is in selling military equipment and weapons to Europe and then they hand them over to Ukraine. That's the way it should have been done from day one
First of all Russia does not have a powerful military. They have an inept military. Totally useless and dysfunctional. They thought they could take Kyiv in 3 days. 3½ years later they've seized relatively very little territory. They just want Ukraine to hand them over territory they've been unable to capture in some kind of "peace deal". Secondly, Ukraine never "took on" Russia. Russia illegally invaded Ukraine February 24, 2002.“Russia is a powerful military nation. You know, whether people like it or not, it's a powerful nation. It's a much bigger nation,” Trump said. “It's not a war that should have been started. You don't do that. You don't take on a nation that's 10 times your size.

Re: Russia's Invasion of Ukraine, aka "Putin's Special Operation"
The only impressive with Russia is the huge landsize of this country. However a lot of it is not fit for people to live there due to climate, difficult to access, almost nobody is living there.Voyager1 wrote: ↑August 21st, 2025, 9:00 amFirst of all Russia does not have a powerful military. The Russian population is only 145 million people and they are dispersed, about 115 million in European Russia and 30 million in Asian Russia.
Same is true with the Russian military, for example a warship facing Japan cannot easily transferred to the Black Sea to operate against Ukraine.
To move people and goods from one corner to the other in Russia is a major issue, further Russia is not very productive - just check out Russian economy compared to EU with its 450 million citizens (without UK and Norway)
EU however neglected the important issue of defence, it was trusting that USA as a NATO member will deliver all weapons, while EU will take care of any other military related stuff. This is changing now, EU will of course continue to support Ukraine and will increase the output of military related equipment including production on weapons of any kind. Further it is working now to better secure the borderline against Russia to prevent any invasion like it happened in Ukraine before.
Russia cannot be trusted at all and EU had to learn its lesson. EU also had to learn that weapon supply cannot be expected from USA, despite USA is a member of NATO. EU will catch up however soon, it needs only to increase its spending for military related issues.
What to do in future - I guess EU will continue to support Ukraine and the war will continue until the Russian military will move out of its territory.
Re: Russia's Invasion of Ukraine, aka "Putin's Special Operation"
Wow Lavrov says in this interview that Russia wants peace and that Ukraine and the EU don't want peace. lol. What a psyop. lol. Just say the opposite of whatever is true. lol. Elites always do that, on both sides of course. Lavrov dodged most of the questions asked to him in this interview.
Wow Putin says below that Russia did not start this war. lol
Wow Putin confirms that this war would not have started under Trump. Yeah right.

Re: Russia's Invasion of Ukraine, aka "Putin's Special Operation"
Ultimately there are 2 solutions:
1. I'm sure if the USA and Europe all send armies to Ukraine and treat it like D-Day in World War 2, they could liberate Ukraine and drive the Russians out. If they really really wanted to do that. The USA is extremely talented in warfare. Russia is not.
I think if the US army and navy and air force and the British army and air force, went into Ukraine, they could easily drive out the Russians with minimum casualties. Putin would not dare use nuclear weapons on them. Because then he would get nuked in Moscow.
2. Or they could stay out of the Ukraine war completely and let Russia and Ukraine solve it between them without any intervention. If Ukraine falls then make it clear that Putin can take no more territory after that. In other words, give Putin Ukraine but draw the red line there and leave it at that. That would end this stupid conflict.

Re: Russia's Invasion of Ukraine, aka "Putin's Special Operation"
You may be right about #1 but not #2. putin is just going to keep going and going and going... he made it clear in the beginning that he's willing to sacrifice millions of Russian soldiers lives to conquer Ukraine. he said recently "All of Ukraine is ours"
#1 Trump is not willing to sacrifice American lives in this conflict. He made the point that this is Europe's problem. But then other nations such as UK, Poland, France, etc could do what you're suggesting because they are directly affected

Re: Russia's Invasion of Ukraine, aka "Putin's Special Operation"
Kim Jong Un weeps as he honors fallen North Korean Soldiers Who died fighting for Russia
Unlike Putin, Kim Jong Un at least is showing up in person for condolence.
He did not expect something like that.
Now North Korean soldiers it seems are now no longer fighting against Ukraine but are used for cleaning up and for repairing behind the front lines.

Re: Russia's Invasion of Ukraine, aka "Putin's Special Operation"
Putin and his ilk do not care about the life of a Russian soldier. However the Russian military will face strong resistance facing Ukraine also in future, EU/UK and some other countries will continue to support Ukraine - with or without USA.Voyager1 wrote: ↑August 25th, 2025, 4:45 amYou may be right about #1 but not #2. putin is just going to keep going and going and going... he made it clear in the beginning that he's willing to sacrifice millions of Russian soldiers lives to conquer Ukraine. he said recently "All of Ukraine is ours"

EU cannot allow Putin to remove Ukraine from the map as a country.
