Halle Berry Ordered to Pay $16K a Month in Child Support

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry have finally reached a settlement regarding child support payments for their 6-year-old daughter, Nahla.

Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon approved the agreement, which calls for the Oscar-winning actress to pay $16,000 a month to her ex-boyfriend, or nearly $200,000 a year. This is in effect until Nahla turns 19 or graduates from high school, whichever comes first.

Berry, 47, will cover their daughter's school tuition (estimated at $30,000 a year), but she and Aubry, 38, will split health care expenses. Berry must also pay the Canadian model a retroactive payment of $115,000 and $300,000 to his attorneys to cover the costs of their custody dispute.

In 2012, the former couple was involved in a bitter custody quarrel, with a judge blocking the actress from moving their daughter to France. After a nearly year-long court battle, Berry and Aubry eventually reached an agreement, and the two share equal custody of Nahla.

The actress gave birth to Nahla in 2008 after dating Aubry for two years. They broke up in April 2010.

I am glad to see a woman having to pay child support payments, usually it's the man that has to pay.

Since Halle's a bonafide millionaire Hollywood actress whereas the other guy is perhaps, a high 200 to 500-thousand-aire, it seems fair, in the end.

Hopefully, more American women will be expected to ante up for alimony. If so, American women will start moving to and marrying men from other countries to escape being cleaned out.

$16,000 a month is a lot of Filipinas! This guy has got it made. Timed perfectly too, at 47 Halle will hit menopause any day now.

The amount is based on income instead of the actual cost of raising a child.
It's a stealth way of transferring more money (usually) from the man to the woman AND the state gets a cut, too.

Hello,

Why would any society allow women to have the chance to accumulate such wealth? The females must be LAUGHING at the men's inability to keep them in control. Thousands of men are roaming homeless on the streets and yet females have such assets?? Un-natural.

Child support is not only calculated on where the children are and how much he is earning and how much she is earning.

It is calculated in her case, how much she+her new husband are earning in a sum.

Unfortunately in USA and other feminist friendly countries, even the follow-up husband, who is NOT the biological father has to pay.

These are celebrities and it is said, the ex-husband is worth 5 million USD and his ex-wife is worth 70 million USD.

The children are now with him, so she must pay child support based on her new marital assets/income, which is including the assets/income of the new husband...(I don't know the assets/income of the new husband, but it seems he is not poor either)

The question remains, if she will really pay. Why should she? - It is known that fathers who did not pay, even those who are bankrupt, jobless or ill, were sentenced to jail for failing to offer child support.

However as far as I know, not even one mother, who failed to pay child support spent ever even a single day in jail for that - and there are many mothers claiming they have no money for child support despite they are living with their boyfriends but not legally married (of course not!) or taking care of the sick mother and cannot work for that reason, or are so bankrupt with student loans, jobless despite degree and are living therefore out of welfare etc.

Fact: As father, children living with him, it is very difficult to collect child support, if the ex-wife does not want to pay anything.

Double standard - feminism.
