Targeted destruction of Internet Archive

Post by Light »

I just read a depressing article that got me upset and furious today. A group of four publishers finally have the excuse they need to use American copyright law to destroy Internet Archive.

For anyone who isn't familiar, that website stores everything as the largest archive and non-profit. Their data is so large that no one can backup all of it.

Over the many years there have been many websites destroyed because of copyright laws and websites that vanished over the years. Google's search algorithms were modified so now I have better luck on other foreign search engines more than half the time. Youtube was censored several years ago.

I know I will hate losing Internet Archive. It will be the greatest loss to the open internet and to open access of information. In their selection is also books you cannot find because they were written by authors in limited quantities with information they don't want you to see or read. Their is music from National Socialist Germany that everywhere else on the internet has expunged. There are websites that have vanished but if you have the links, and someone saved the website to the Internet Archive then you can find that information.

I feel like if Internet Archive vanishes then that is it for America and the internet is over in America.

All many people do now is just Tweet meaningless things on Twitter, make garbage Youtube videos about their pet cat or liberal nonsense, or going out to read bias Zionist fake news on mainstream media. I'm disappointed at this depressing society but I guess it's to be expected. Anything good or decent gets destroyed. The internet is a useful tool for both the people and the controllers who rule society. The controllers want dominance in everything and the internet is something they are also taking piece by piece away from the people with laws, modifying search algorithms, and frivolous copyright laws. Mainstream sites now want phone verification, have lengthy Terms and Conditions to censor or suspend or ban users at will, and everything is going to hell.

If you want anything from the internet archive, then now would be the time to download and save it. If the Internet Archive gets destroyed then you'll lose your chance to download anything.

I hope it survives but with everything great, free, and useful for the people it will probably get destroyed.

I hope they move overseas and stay up. It's easily the best website on the net if you think about it because it has nearly everything and it's non-profit.

There are very few good projects like that but people would rather give their money to companies like Youtube or corrupted non-profit organizations like Wikipedia. It's an under-used site most people forgot about because they don't advertise and Google doesn't like it. I think when I used Metager and Yandex to search for things they returned a lot of Archive results. I think it would become more popular if the Archive.org search bar included results from other sites or if the Archive.org homepage led to a simple search engine similar to Startpage.com where Archive results were prioritized.

Here are two lectures that were repeatedly taken down by Youtube:
But videos are just one small part of their library.
