Anyone else feel Pacquiao won?

Post by Rock »

He lost in a unanimous decision by judges!

I'm not an avid boxing fan and don't understand the details well. But I watched the fight in real time today (paid 1,500 Pesos for that privilege lol) and really felt Manny was ahead througout, especially round 4 and some of the rounds after that. Later I ran into an American acquaintance and his buddy who felt even more strongly that Manny was the winner.

What do you guys think? I was hoping Pac would win cus it would raise global profile and respect of Philippines and give people here something to be happy about.

Is a rematch and best 2 out of 3 possible? Would be great from a business standpoint at least, right?

Yes. He did....What can we expect from American Boxing mafia...Manny was robbed earlier as well during Bradly fight. It was a done deal that, if it goes the distance...fraudweather would win...

Manny had to knock him out...just to get a DRAW   ..That's how much the odd's were stacked against him. They never let you win fair and square in Vegas

One Judge gave him 110 - 118   ..Essentially Manny lost all rounds on his cards

Vegas Judges are known for being highly corrupt. All three judges were Americans, The referee was American....Let the judge be from a third country and let it be held at a neutral venue and see how many matches fraud weather could win.

I didn't pay a dime..watched the stream online for free...They ain't getting my money EVER

My money is better spent on Manila girls than whatever new fraud that comes out of America

I'm a follower of boxing, UFC, MMA etc for a long time....The talk of being past prime has no substance as Manny essentially has defeated all young fighters too like Algiri, Bradly, Rios etc...So no young fighters could match what Manny has and fraudweather got it being American and living with Vegas mafia..He lost many times but the undefeated tag really sells fights.

Most Americans are saying...Filipinos are butt hurt as Manny lost the fight , however, many Non-Filipinos and I'm Indian and almost 99% of Indians are shocked that fraudweather won...

Well there will be no rematch....But damn I felt the same way....Im not the biggest boxing fan either but damn did it look like Fraudweather was ducking and dodging and running and hugging from Pacman....But Fraudweather did get some key jabs in the later rounds and Pacman did look tired towards the end....Money didnt even look like he even fought....

Like another poster and even my friend who I was texting back and forth with agreed that Pacquiao needed to knock out Money to win this fight and anything less would be a loss....

Free stream as well.....Glad I didnt shell out $100 bucks for that bullshit....Paying $100 for that fight would have been the equivalent of paying $100 on a date with an American girl....and you leave both situations annoyed, tired, confused and frustrated....

Point taken. I was planning to watch at either former Hooters or Century City Mall but I overslept a bit so both venues were full by time I got arrived at each. Nearby Buddha Bar which I think you know had an entrance fee which included great seats in front of big screen, bottomless beer, and a snack plate. That was still available so I opted for that and was in time to see all the preliminaries.

America is a one gigantic fraud that people still believe in....being from a third world country..its the norm to be robbed - America just does it convincingly through its propaganda media empire.

Being 'past their prime' absolutely has substance, and is verifiable, specifically in the case of Pacquiao, who has a much higher reliance on his physical abilities (namely speed and power) than Mayweather. Mayweather relies more on technique than Pacquiao does, but he still relies on his speed, and he has started getting caught the last few fights doing things he NEVER got caught doing during his whole career.

Using 'past their prime' as a go-to excuse for anything is dumb, obviously, but you can watch the progression of these guys' fights and see it. It doesn't all depend on results or wins/losses. Even past their prime boxing legends are better than the majority of regular, even high level boxers. They're just losing steps.
He lost in a unanimous decision by judges!
There's at least a case that he 'lost,' although just like the Oscar De La Hoya fight that Mayweather also ran off with, it seems a little skeezy and arguably could have gone in either direction. The thing is, Mayweather controlled everything about this fight, just like he controls everything about every other fight he has. The whole thing is run by his own promotional company (which he owns), he picks the gloves they both wear, the ring size (Mayweather uses a HUGE ring so it's harder to catch him), the judges, the refs, the venues, the testing rules, the fight date, practically everything. His opponents just decide if they want to get paid or not. He's USUALLY the one who pays his opponent out of his own pocket as well. I don't know if that happened here, since it was a much bigger purse than normal, and I think Pac got PPV shares as well. Mayweather also had it put in the rules that if he won, Pac would not get a rematch, while if he lost, he would get a rematch.

Anyway, Mayweather's style is boring (a lot of running, a lot of hugging), but by the rules, he generally makes a good case for winning. It's going to be awhile before any actual unslanted official rundowns of this fight happen though, to see who actually 'should' have won.

As for Mayweather and Americans, it's mostly only blacks that like him (and most of them don't even watch boxing; they just like his lifestyle). Some boxing announcers who aren't black, though considering that he more or less IS the boxing world here in the states, there might be a certain amount of professional necessity in publicly sucking his dick the way they do.

Apparently Holyfield also felt that Manny was the real winner.

How are boxing matches scored? Do you get points for landing punches or something? How does the scoring system work? Is it objective or subjective? Can't they just play the video of the match to neutral impartial judges and verify if it was correctly scored?

Never mind what you saw, Faudweather won and if you say differently, then your a bitter piece of shit who knows nothing about Boxing....Well Boxing is dead as this was the truly the last big fight...

Hmm, I'd like to see a vid reply one by one of each of those 864 punches. Just looking at that scorecard makes me feel like the card keepers were not even watching the same fight! Did Mayweather really land more power punches for example? Come on.

Majority of people don't understand how boxing is scored. Mayweather's style, much like Muhammad Ali's, lends itself to winning by points. The biggest difference between amateur and pro boxers is that the pro has to learn much better defensive skills, and Mayweather's defense is some of the best in the history of the sport. He doesn't do that much himself offensively although he does have tremendous hand speed, it's just that he is so incredibly difficult to hit. The running, bobbing & weaving, shoulder rolls etc are techniques that work well for winning points the way boxing is scored. Personally I don't agree with it and also I think they should fight until somebody wins. But even then those defensive skills would be very valuable. I don't like Mayweather either but hard to blame the guy for playing the game as it's dictated by others. He is just too fast for anyone to beat him under the current scoring rules.
I had Mayweather winning 8 rounds to 4, which is pretty much how the announcers and two of the 3 judges saw it.
