Mother Boils Her Infant Daughter in a 600 Degree Oven

Post by jamesbond »

An Alabama mother sentenced to 25 years in jail for putting her 14-month-old daughter in a 600-degree oven has officially been denied parole this week.

Despite previously claiming it was an accident, Melissa Wright, 40, pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of her daughter, Ashley Smith, in 2003. According to WSFA, Wright "removed the racks out of the oven, turned it to broil and waited for it to heat up, and then put her head first into that oven." When her father heard Smith screaming, he quickly ran to the kitchen.

Smith suffered severe third-degree burns and received over 25 reconstructive surgeries after she was pulled from the oven by her father. Now 15, she argued against Wright being released from jail early because she believes she might still be a threat to her niece and nephew, who are currently both still very young.

"I honestly do not trust her and I'm afraid for their safety," she said, according to Us Weekly. "I can't imagine anybody being in as much pain as I was in... I do not hate Melissa, but I do not love her. I forgave Melissa."

According to People, the state's parole board rejected Wright's request for an early release on Tuesday, and she will not be eligible for parole again until 2021.

Yup. Side effects of anti depressants include: depression and suicide. Yet people waste their money on this garbage.

Maybe also retarded kids (excuse me -- developmentally delayed). I know a young couple with four boys, three of them in special ed and not talking yet at ages 9, 5 and 4 (and the one who's supposed to be talking, also 5, says almost nothing). Both parents are certifiably brilliant, and have no major bad health habits.

Exclude the 9-year-old, because he had two major brain bleeds at birth due to medical incompetence, and has severe cerebral palsy. My hypothesis for the others: the mother (I believe) was taking anti-depressants during pregnancy. The theory makes some sense, if you put aside the marketing bull about altering brain chemistry and realize that what these ssri's do is suppress brain function. The effect on the developing brain of a fetus could be profound.

Take a close look at the culture and I think you'll find that these "developmentally delayed" people is a major untold story, and I don't doubt that it's a story mostly about Pillhead Nation, aka the USA.

That's a good point. They do a couple of six week studies and then they tell people it is safe to take these pills for decades. Poor children.

I used to take a prescribed antihistamine called seldane. After I had been taking it for years, they all of a sudden discovered it causes palpitation or whatever it was, and it was taken off the market, and IIRC, its replacement was Allegra, just a tweaking of the formula. People don't know we are just guinea pigs. We are the beta test. Luckily enough after seldane I was so allergic to almost every medication and I haven't taken many meds in my life for this reason.
