As I've already explained, the idea that there is a mindwipe is merely an assumption.

Differences in density and speed of information transfer between the physical world and higher planes may explain why it is so difficult to remember past lives.

What about children who remember past lives? They are able to retrieve memories with relative ease from ages 2 to 7, and then that ability fades away. This could be interpreted as supporting the idea that the mechanism that prevents past-life recall isn't a mindwipe but rather a lack of connectivity between different layers of reality.
