Would you live your life over again?
Would you live your life over again?
Lets say you have an option to live your life again, exactly the same life you lived so far, would you do it?
Say you could be born again and you will be exactly the same person you are now, you'd have same parents, friends, same experiences, childhood, adulthood, women, same job, etc.
Of course once you start living your new (old) life you wouldn't know that your life is just repeat of previous life, bottom line is you cant changed anything..
Wonder how many people in the world would say YES? Are these people winners in life, truly happy people?
What about those who prefer to die over living the same life over again?

As happy as I am with my life, I would not be able to resist doing things differently. I would still try to hold out long enough to find my current woman, but I would not have married my first wife, or date any of those heifers I did in the past again. I actually would probably end up a professional athlete most likely, thus screwing up my chances of having anything similar to the first time around, like getting my current fiance most likely.
Re: Would you live your life over again?
Of course, most people in the world would say No to your question! Well...unless, you come from a rich family, otherwise, most people have a lot of regrets about their lives (like me!)....Banano wrote:Lets say you have an option to live your life again, exactly the same life you lived so far, would you do it?

As much as I have suffered, no. I have no regrets in the way I handled my life.

Since I can't change who my father was, as a person, or how my sister had turned out, the answer is no.
I've done the best with my own personal life, the way it had turned out.
The only way I'd change this to a 'yes' is if my parents and sibling turned out to be normal and functioning properly. Then, I'd like to give it a re-try but this time, having the benefits of a happy household, instead of a dysfunctional one. But hey, that would involve forcing the destinies of three other persons to be different which is a quantum impossibility. Thus, I believe what happened, was meant to happen.

Many years ago, the Best Picture of 1999, "American Beauty", telegraphed the message of Happier Abroad to the world.
Beware of long term engagements with AWs, you may find yourself in a coffin.
AB discussion thread
BTW, despite settling down with an AW, myself, the warning is still in effect.

If I'd have to take the SAME road, make the SAME mistakes, put up with the SAME B.S., to get to the SAME place in the SAME number of years, pfffft, why bother?

I don't think you read the question carefully. He said that in the repeat life, you would not remember that it was a repeat. In other words, you've have no memory of it. So you'd start again and go through the exact same things you already did.kai1275 wrote:As happy as I am with my life, I would not be able to resist doing things differently. If you use your mind (a fault-finding machine) to determine the value of experiencing human existence, invariably you will come to the conclusion that life is pointless at best, hellish at worst. This is because the human mind is a tool to aid in the survival of the animal organism i.e. the body, which is destined to die. Humans tend to live in such a way whereby their only joy comes from anticipation of the future and brief distractions from their conflicted mind through fulfilling desires. Passions are had, but these are then integrated by and perceived through the ego, and thus become meaningless. This self-fulfilling cycle of clinging only ends when you dis-identify from the process by recognizing and understanding it, only then can you live a life of meaning.
