I agree! Interracial relationships are still frowned-upon, somewhat in the USA, whereas in Europe, they're very common. The USA is a very racially-polarized country--and anyone who says it's not a racist country, needs to have their heads examined.

I used to be also, Window, long ago, but I've changed. And I have to say that PandaBear's Biblical examples were persuasive and succinct. (Good OP, Panda.)

Parts of the USA. The place is large and diverse enough that if you think it may be a problem then you can leave Mayberry for West Los Angeles, Hawaii, Seattle....

I think branding the USA as a "racist" country gets it off of the stupidity hook too easily. The USA is NOW made up of people who are intellectually deficient in a variety of ways. Ladislav brilliantly explored how American education produces very skilled specialists in every field who have little to no knowledge of things like literature, languages, social sciences, philosophy, geography, history and so on. We see this dumbed-down America all the time now, especially with things like Icebucket Challanges, Black Friday stampedes, new iPhone hysteria, demands for taxpayer-paid birth control, scary STD rates, and I could go on and on and on.

Racism is simply the "collectivist mindset" among less-fortunate and less-talented Americans. Gunnar Myrdal who wrote the seminal work "The American Dilemma," correctly pointed out that racial obsession is most pronounced at the bottom of the social totem poles, regardless of race or ethnicity. I view it as a self-identifying mechanism wherein when someone expresses this thinking, he marks himself as a member of the bottom-dwelling social misfits, or at least he has origins there. I then can treat him accordingly. Americans worth my time and effort are well beyond such thinking, but these types are fewer and farther between these days.

Collectivism (or racism if you must) is simply one of the ways American intellectual deficiency manifests itself. So when we brand the USA "racist" we really should see racism as a symptom of the deeper problem of "idiocracy in progress." I encourage all to see the movie "Idiocracy" if you want to see the not-too distant future of this now benighted country.

Noel Ignatiev makes an interesting point about the Irish. Nowadays, in America, the Irish are generally considered to be fully "White" (even though they aren't the least bit Aryan). Back in the 19th century, they had a status lower than that of slaves. If you had a job to do that was dangerous, you wouldn't want to risk hurting one of your valuable slaves. A disabled slave wouldn't be worth anything at auction. A master would realize an economic loss. Instead, you would send an Irish laborer in to do the dangerous work. If an Irishman got hurt or killed, no big deal--you would just hire another.

I went back and added some more videos. In particular, I found a great one to place just above the part where I'm quoting Dr. Howard: "Let if first be understood that there can never be any inter-racial relations of Caucasian and African, socially or sexually. Any such relation is prevented by the great sexual, anatomical, and physiological differences, and any attempt at such relations means complexly ruinous results."

Well, he did write "The goal of abolishing the white race is on its face so desirable that some may find it hard to believe that it could incur any opposition other than from committed white supremacists." So, the White Supremacists are going to weigh in heavily.

Its weird the way you see so much White Supremacist commentary all over the place these days. Even innocent YouTube videos--someone will show up to bash the Jews, even if the video has absolutely nothing to do with racism or Judaism. Someone must be paying them.
