To understand racial, ethnic and multicultural issues, it is important to understand basic demographic transition models:

Europe entered Stage 2 with the Industrial Revolution, which led to surplus populations, and heavy emigration, first from Northern and Western Europe, and eventually from Southern and Eastern Europe, as the industrial revolution eventually spread. Now, some countries, for example, Germany, are in Stage 5, with declining populations.

Now, in the 21st century, most of our immigrants are coming from Latin America and Asian countries that are in Stage 2. Europeans don't have much of an incentive to migrate here, compared to our ancestors.
