Women were not allowed to work myth

a lot of women believe that in the 1950's, women were not allowed to work. this is a complete myth.


if you research employment and business ownership by women, you will conclude that women have been employed and have owned businesses throughout recorded history.

I remember in high school reading a textbook that stated that women did not work during the 1800s, and underneath it there was a photo of women working in a factory. how can it be that women worked in factories in the 1800s yet they didn't? it made no sense

so I did further research and discovered that although women work more now than in the 1950s, the growth is actually quite small, perhaps only 15%. that means that the increase in the workforce of women between the 1950s and 2014 is about 15%. maybe a bit more but not the incredible 0 to 90% that women lead you to believe.
that means that if 50% of women worked in the 1950s, it would be about 65% today.

likewise, the men in the workforce dropped from 90% down to 80% (meaning that now, 80% of men work).

so it is only a myth that in the 1950s women were not allowed to work.

in fact, it is evidence that the economy was strong enough that 1 person could support an entire family. studies show that women work when the economy is weak, and when the economy is strong, only men work. and it is true in all countries. so men always work, and women only work when the going is tough.

Women shouldn't be working unless it's at the behest of their husbands or they are widowed. NO HUSBAND wants his wife to work because it takes away his role as providing for his wife. Without someone to provide for, men lose motivation. It's so simple!
