I just flew back from Vancouver. On the mountain roads in North Vancouver, I saw construction crews with young ladies in hard hats standing in the road with the "slow" sign, as their male counterparts are busy operating heavy machinery behind them. In California, CALTRANS tend to avoid assigning women to work on the freeways, but I guess Canada is more open about it.

Speaking from personal observation, one of my coworkers only work 1/2 day, then he takes off at 1 pm to go pick up the kids. His wife works full time and makes more $$. My god-daughter's father was a stay-at-home dad for 2 years while his wife went to work full time as a pharmacist ($$). If he worked full time, he'd only make about 60% of what his wife made, so it made economic sense for her to go back to work full time.

With current trends of more women in college than men, I think this scenario will continue to grow over time. In a couple of decades, we'd probably see more women paying child support to the man.
