Fschmidt has an article elsewhere on HA about how Omega type men are not true Alphas. He describes how societies can be set up in different ways, to value different types of men. (Alpha/Beta Society... Co-Alpha Society... and Omega Society).

That article of fschmidt's has gotten me thinking.

Also, another thread on HA talks about how you have to be a "type" to attract women Not average and clean-cut, but the regular guy of the 1950's (I guess), something extreme, preposterous, ridiculous.

This reminded me of a young man I know who is a handsome, intelligent, artistically talented, funny, etc., also a rugby player and works security in night clubs, yet has trouble getting girls. He says he is too much a "nice guy". I am seeing that he is right, but the problem of douche-culture is just way beyond what I suspected.

I was watching some music videos over coffee this AM, something I rarely do, and was astounded that music videos are programming for women and men to admire Omega type men only. Metal and pop too, not just hip-hop etc.

Talent expressed with chaos-creating brattiness and showiness.

Here's another (below) is postulating kind of an all-Alpha society. A society in which you're either a winner, or childless loser (or dead). I guess we could call it a Salmon Society.

It argues that historically some men never reproduced, and that some men did more than their share.

I keep wanting society to be more fair, to find a country where all can live and make a living and reproduce, etc. But maybe I need to "man up" a bit, and push my way to the front. Maybe I need to find my voice, express myself more, step up and showcase my talents and what I can do.

Hell, the douches already are.

This works if (and only if) "winning" is defined as passing on your DNA.
If you have an enjoyable life, but don't have kids, do you "lose"?

If you have kids (passing on the DNA) but have a miserable early end of life, is that still a "win"?
