The (un)affordable care act

Hey guys, as some of you know I just returned to my favorite city in Mexico where I'll be living for 5 or 6 months. But here I'm going to rant about the Affordable Care Act because my dad was pressuring me to apply for health insurance. But I would rather just tell the system "go f**k yourself". The ACA is really more like the Unaffordable Care Act (UCA) or as I like to call it the Affordable Extortion Act. Since 2014, Americans are FORCED to purchase health insurance not by choice, and many plans can cost several hundred dollars a month. If uninsured, you'll get a a huge fine on your tax return. But I read somewhere that the penalty doesn't apply for single people who earn just a few thousand dollars a year.

Here's how I would've had the ACA be like:

- healthcare is subsidized by the government just like it is in other first world countries, and is NOT privatized through monster corporations
- when you turn 26 and you're off you're parents' health insurance, it'll automatically be passed down to you and is FREE

But no, people are forced to buy insurance, which speaks volumes about how Obama is socialist. Welcome to the United Socialist States of America....or welcome to the United States of Venezuela.

I have often heard the "Affordable care act" as being called, "The Unaffordable care act" that's because it is so dam expensive.

And your right, Obama is a socialist and will go down in history as the only president in US history where the economy never grew at 3% for any of the eight years he was president. The economy has grown an average of only 1.88% a year since he has been in office.

You're forced to buy insurance in Switzerland too. The penalty is negligible until you get to high income levels, at which point insurance also is negligible cost. To be specific, 2.5% of income. So $1000 for a single guy making $40K. (Married guys in the US are idiots and deserve to be punished, all idiots deserve to be punished, so I won't discuss them.) $1000/year is about right, because society has to pay if that $40K/year guy gets very sick without insurance. I've been paying the penalty for several years. Just a minor additional income tax. Less than the income tax I saved by moving to a state with no income tax as my address of official residence after I retired. Also, you're exempt from the penalty if you live overseas 330 days per year.

Quit being such a bunch of cry babies. The US is f***ed up in many ways, but it is far and away the best place for the average schmoe, without family connections, to get rich quick. Which is why smart ambitious people continue to want to immigrate.

There needs to be a full-on NHS installed. I'm no socialist; however, "Even a stopped clock is right twice a day". The US system is barbaric.

The fact that the US remains sub-Third World in its medical system is yet one more thing driving me out of here just as soon as I can manage to leave in several years.

I know the current healthcare situation isn't ideal, but it is a whole lot better than what we had. A big positive about the ACA is that it requires most employers to offer their employees insurance if they work atleast 30 (or 32?) hours a week. This is good because a lot of mcjobs in the U.S weren't offering insurance before the ACA. I currently make $8.75 an hour and work 32 hours a week on top of being a full time college student. I get insurance through my job and pay about $70 per pay check for full medical, dental, and vision coverage. If I can afford that at $8.75, just about anyone can afford the basic obamacare plans that are about $100 a month. And by the way, there are loopholes to get out of paying the fine. I was able to get out of it last year because I made under a certain amount of money.

Dude your smoking some high grade crack my friend, the Affordable Care Act is just another system for them to shift all wealth to the bankers as stated in the communist manifesto, you know the part that states an " Exclusive Credit Monopoly " which translates banker counterfeiting operation to destroy all competition as JD Rockefeller contended..........
