@Lucas88 needs to get out, he seems to be in a negative place mentally which is what happens in the UK if you delve to any degree into the media.

Lucas, if you're reading this, get out! You had a plan of Spain or Latin America, focus on that instead of who is ruiling you or who is coming over to live amongst you, you have no power to change any of it, just get out of there and pick something better for yourself.

Wow, for some reason I had an intuition to log into the forum today — something I rarely ever do anymore — and found this post addressed to me!

I don't think I'm in a particularly negative mental place lately — at least not anymore so than my habitual base state — and I've mostly cut out all media pertaining to the somber topics that characterize the current state of affairs. It's simply the case that the world is becoming an objectively worse place and people are noticing.

As for my own plans, I'm very much interested in Brazil right now and have even started to learn Portuguese as preparation (it's really easy after Spanish). In fact, last night I even proposed to @Winston that we spend a few months together in a Brazilian city of our choosing, enrol in Portuguese language classes, and scope out some big bunda ladies at night. I would see it as a kind of trial period and acclimatization for possible permanent relocation, but it could also serve to get the old teddy bear out of his neverending Taiwanese rut, should he agree to come with me, of course.

At the same time, I also have some more unusual plans, which might actually take me to Asia. In recent years, I've become increasingly interested in the esoteric cultivation path — meditation, energy work, Inner Alchemy, and the training of siddhis — and I'm seriously considering a protracted period of ascetic practice with an authentic master, either from the Daoist or Vajrayana tradition. I'm three years away from 40 and the mundane material world is starting to lose its appeal.

In fact, my current plans have given me a new lease on life and I'm actually in high spirits!

Glad to hear it! Brazil is a good idea and one I was thinking about but can't be bothered with Portuguese! there are loads of good cities that are safe and with all the amenities. I can move to Brazil because as a MERCOSUR associate citizen, I have freedom of movement and was looking at Jundiai in Sao Paulo state which has the highest concentration of Japanese-Brazilians in the whole of Brazil and one of Brazil's safest cities but there is a you tube channel called Vort-C Ambience that shows you all these cities in the south of Brazil and they're amazing, aren't they?

I don't understand something. Why do you keep defending Taiwan as though you have some emotional investment in it? You've never been there and have no attachment to it.

I'm not gonna lie and say that Taiwanese are open and social and women are approachable and open and fun. They definitely are not. I would be lying if I said that. It would be like saying 2+2=5. I'm not gonna lie. I'm honest and real.

Also you can ask Steve R. He went to Taiwan too and said the women aren't open or interested in men too. His brother is good looking and only got a few dates there over 3 months.

Also why would you believe NPCs and bots over me? Lol

To any foreigners living in Taiwan:

Why would anyone choose to live here? I definitely wouldn't. Taiwan is super boring, lifeless, soulless, and way too sterile and antiseptic and reserved. It's the most boring country in Asia. Even Hong Kong is more interesting and has more character and culture and is spectacular at night.

The people here don't seem human, it's like their soul has been sucked out of them by the soulless culture and egregore that governs Taiwanese society. Everyone here seems like pure NPCs, like computer generated Sims characters in a video game, like bots running a program or script. It's depressing to see that everyday. How do you tolerate that? How do you vibe with that? I certainly can't. It's unpleasant to see that everyday and weirds me out. I'm not like the people here at all.

The people here are very cliquish, narrow, and superficial, like they're still in high school. Westerners would not vibe with that. Especially intellectual Westerners. Taiwanese are wired differently from us, like a different species. How do you resonate with that? I don't get it.

I feel like Taiwan keeps trying to suck out my soul and fill it with bleach to make me sterile and non-human. Ick. Ewww. It feels like a psychic attack on me everyday. It's very awkward and off-putting. I can't be myself or be comfortable in my own skin here.

So I don't get why any foreigner would choose to live here. I don't get that. It's inexplicable. Am I missing something? I would never choose to be here at all if my parents weren't here. I realized back in 2004 that Taiwan didn't fit me at all. I don't vibe with the people or culture here at all and can't be myself and don't even feel comfortable in my own skin here. Even if I had a girlfriend here that wouldn't change the above. I'd still be a fish out of water here.

No one feels like a real friend in Taiwan. Everyone feels like an acquaintance only because everyone here is 100 percent superficial and soulless and unable to connect with real souls like me. Doesn't that make Taiwan the most lonely, isolating, and antisocial country in Asia? How can you like that and feel comfortable with that? It's inhuman. I don't get it. Can you explain?

If I were in Europe I could sit alone in a cafe and soak in the good vibe and culture, which resonates with me. But I can't do that here because there's no soul or good vibe or real culture like other countries have. In Europe I can meet people and have fun everyday and never feel lonely or isolated. But I can't do that here. People are clammed up in closed shells and not socially open or fun loving or easy to connect with at all. I don't get why everyone on the internet lies about Taiwan being super friendly and warm and open. I don't see that at all. Not by my standards. Not compared to other countries I've been to.

Btw @kangarunner. Keep in mind that Taiwan is very politically correct. And most people are politically correct too. So when the camera is pointed at them, especially by a stranger, there is enormous pressure to be politically correct, not brutally honest like me. You have to take that into account when watching videos about Taiwan. Once the camera is pointed at you you know that you have to say mostly positive things and only a few negative things to be polite. It's an unspoken rule. Everyone knows it instinctively.
