I gradually realized (over the past 4 years or so) that there is no place/platform in American politics for people like myself and the people I care most about. Neither of the 2 major parties come close enough to representing my interests for me to get excited about their politicians. I'm honestly convinced that my well-being, concerns, troubles, and desires are not even on their radar. I've mostly voted for Libertarian candidates since the 2010 elections. Not that I am a libertarian, I just like ticking off the mainstream with a protest vote, however I'm considering protesting by just not voting, period.

+1 - voting for only 2 main partys where you have no control over selecting the candidates is like not voting at all!
