Just a few things I noticed. If you live in China. You'll learn that when two people get into a fight, nobody else will interfere because it's just two people fighting and they don't know the situation or who's fault the conflict is. And they wouldn't want to accidentally take the wrong side. Understandable. We think like that back home in western countries.

But when a Chinese person is in a fight with a foreigner, every other Chinese near by will jump in and attack the foreigner. Even though they don't know the situation. They just assume that just because you're a foreigner, you're the one at fault. They don't know either whether or not that Chinese guy tried to steal something from a foreigner first.

News flash. We're all equal. There is no such thing as a Chinese race, or a white race. We are all one human race and all one people. It's only the skin color that's different. A person is a person. Inside we're all equal.

Besides most foreigners in China don't go there to cause trouble. Too all Chinese. When you see a foreigner in a fight with a Chinese person, always think the way you would as if it were two Chinese people fighting. Being a foreigner doesn't make a person less human.

Bullcr*p. I was stationed all over Europe when I was in the U.S. military--and it always Americans causing trouble with the local population, i.e. fights, rapes, crime, etc. The Europeans (Brits, Germans, Italians, Turks) couldn't stand Americans for the most part because of all the problems we were causing. The same thing occurs in Japan and Korea where foreigners are constantly causing all sorts of mischief. Explain to me why most of the crimes committed in Japan and Korea are caused by non-native populations such as illegal immigrants, U.S. soldiers, or rowdy and disrespectful foreigners. Those countries are incredibly safe otherwise.

And as for what happened to you, I feel bad you got attacked. But let's be really here, if a foreigner got in a fight in the U.S. with a bunch of American thugs--who do you think most American's are going to side with? The foreigner or the native-born American? You know the answer to that question. Certainly, not the cops in the U.S. since most of them are virulently racists and xenophobes.

The Chinese are the most intolerant, racist, xenophobic (fearful and prejudiced against outsiders) people on this planet, including Nazis, KKK members and the like.

It's is just considered normal in China. They don't even have an awareness of the concepts of prejudice and bias - it's all normal to them. Racism is defined in Xinhua as 'own kind race justice person'. So when you call a Chinese 'racist', they look it up, agree and think it is a good thing.

The Portuguese then confirmed their bias by kidnapping children and selling them into sexual slavery in Europe. The Chinese, after 2 or 3 years of pirate raids from this island, then attacked the island, killed 5,000 Europeans, and forced the Portuguese to sail south. To Macau/Aomen.

The Cantons of Guangdong were set up to control the European traders, but also to protect them. Shamian Island was guarded constantly against attacks from Guangdong residents, just because they did not like 'the other' to be there.

So if you get in a fight with someone who is Chinese, the entire nation is going to kick your ass.

Why?

Because they are intolerant, racist assholes who do not trust anyone who is not Chinese.

You can see this latent arrogance, supremacy and racism in Winston's posts whenever he criticises White Guys for being acting foolish in any way.

It's a very deeply ingrained attitude.

If China is such a racist country than why are you even in China? If you hate it so much than come back to the United States. But since you hate the U.S. as well--than move to a country that isn't racist. (which doesn't exist, btw). If you hate Asians so much, why are you even over there?

This isn't belief. This is observed behaviour.

Not 30 minutes ago I left the spa after getting a foot massage.

I am kinda zoned out, relaxed. As I walk to the stairs, a young couple look at me and laugh. I go downstairs. One of the attendants begins to laugh at me as I put on my shoes. I am dressed in a dress shirt, dress shoes, nice jeans.

I get on the moto and drive home. On the way there I pass two guys who, like all Chinese, mumble 'Laowai Laowai Laowai' as I pass by.

This happens on an hourly basis.

They cannot help it, they don't know it's a sign of ignorance, and they think nothing of it. It's as though they are compelled to say this. It just ejects from their mouths.

My assistants and I were walking out of the school grounds 2 days ago, chatting about lessons and such. As soon as we got to the public side walk, one of the intolerant businessman who runs the private Mahjong Parlour next to the school gates says something to them in Chinese.

IMMEDIATELY the two girls (both with 4yr degrees), and we have been talking in a conversation, they simply stop walking and talking, and step over to a tree by the curb and mumble to each other.

They don't say 'Bye' or anything.

They just stop talking with me, stop walking with me as I continue walking.

Why?

Because to be seen in public in rural China in the company of a Foreign Man is permanent, life-long, social death on a scale that none of you can comprehend.

It's 'The Scarlet Letter' times 1,000.

No local man will date them again, ever. Marriage? Impossible. They think the girls are tainted, or that they are infected by Western Ideas, or that their p***y was stretched out by the big western cock, or that they liked the open minded Western Men and Chinese men are the opposite, or that they got some disease, or..., or...

'Laowai' is like the word 'Nigger'.

If every time you passed a black man in the USA, white men would say 'Black Man, Black Man, Black Man' to their white friend, there would be race riots within days.

That's what China is like, and that's a small part of what lays at the core of Winston when he refers to White Guys as stupid or bad at budgeting.

Why stay?

I know tons of white foreigners who have lived in China for years and intend to spend the rest of their lives there. Sounds like victim-blaming. Not one word about racist Chinese, but it is all his fault. This is unfair. Why don't you say anything against the Chinese man who walked up to the girls and told them not to associate with a person because of his skin color. Not one comment from you about that. Why?

There is no country that is completely racism free, but there are countries where:

1) racism is weak and does not affect your life in such a way as to make you a permanent outcast that cannot have friends, date girls and reasonably integrate into society. In other words if you go from the US to China, that is what you will find. From the frying pan into the fire. Now, if you went to Chile, things would be different. Or Uruguay. Would people mumble "foreigner, foreigner" every hour? Every day? Nope!
2) there is racism but you and your "race" are not on their shit list. For example, in Bulgaria they do not like Arabs or any other Middle Easterners. But it is not an "us vs. foreigners" thing. So, if you are not an Arab, you've got no problem. In Russia people who are dark skinned and non white do have a problem. But is it an hourly thing? A daily thing? No! Also, if you are not an ethnicity that the Russians traditionally dislike then you will
a) integrate with no major problems
b) will be able to date with no one coming up to the girl you are dating and telling them to get away from you.
c) have friends and just live a normal life.
Maybe once a year you will hear someone says something like "Russia is for Russians"but it will not be a daily or an hourly thing. See the difference?

What is all this "turning the tables against the victim" and saying it is his fault? He was just walking down the street with students/school staff. Why do you say he hates them? Who is doing the hating here? Again, please address the issue of racist and ultra nationalistic Chinese who are obviously hostile against a person because he is of a different race. Or is this an impossibility to you?

I think the poster is in China because he has a job to do there and was possibly not able to find good work in some other country. But I recommend he does asap and go to a country where racism is weaker, and where he is not in a group that is hated.

Most Asian countries have a very high degree of xenophobia and hatred and it is not the poster's fault. There are friendlier places in Asia like say, Singapore and the Philippines and possibly Cambodia/Laos/Myanmar. I suggest he start making plans to move there.

But here is a thing though that I don't understand. I have several friends who went to China and who settled in smaller towns and they sing praises to it and one guy who is somewhere in the center, who is a tall bald Brit has told me many times that
a) there are so many beauties there. And he is still there.
b) it is an honor for a Chinese girl to be seen with the White Devil and that her social status goes up if she is with you.

Now, all this does not add up. What is the logical explanation to all this? Are there parallel universes?

Barring violent beatings and killing people, maybe philosophy-wise and racism, this can be true. But you would not know because you are not a white guy in China. And since you cannot become one, you can never know what it is like. Just like you feel averse discussing what it is like to be of an East Asian appearance in the US and how I cannot relate to that, the case seems to be somewhat similar.

Its true that Chinese don't like foreigners. If a foreigner does something nice for a Chinese person they'll act totally shocked. However, Chinese people don't like each other either, people from Shanghai and Hong Kong are at the top of list. In addition, Chinese business owners treat their employees like shit most of the time.

I live in New York City--supposedly one of the most multicultural cities in the world; yet, during High School, I dated a white girl for a few months. And even though NYC is very diverse place, we used to get stared at all the time--especially by angry white males and older white people--just for being an interracial couple. That still goes on all the time, btw. I think a lot of white males just have a hard time seeing racism directed at minorities, but only notice it when it's directed at them.

Do you know I got beaten up by a couple of white Neo-Nazi punks when I was a teenager? It's not a lie--it's the truth. I got called all sorts of racial slurs growing up by racist Blacks, Latinos, and Whites. I've been discriminated against because of my Asian appearance; one time this white lady told me she "doesn't want to hire Yellow folks because my clients don't like them." I got called a racial slur by a couple of rednecks in a truck, while sitting in my car minding my own business the day after the Cho Seung Hui Virginia Tech massacre. I could go on and on...but I think you get the point.

And btw, I got no beef with white males, black males, or anyone else. I make friends with people from every background, heritage, or religion. I just got sick and tired of people always bashing on Asian people when those same people forget that Asians receive just as much racism as anyone else. Just because Asians are "model minorities" does not mean Asians have it easy; It's not easy being an Asian male in this world--and I wish people would recognize that fact!
