A number of massacres at schools, centers for disabled people, plus random shootings sometimes sparked by a mere misunderstanding that often turn into a homicide. Not to mention even the shooting just a couple months ago at the Zombicon fest in Fort Myers that left one dead and 4 or 5 injured.
It's really looking more and more as though Americans these days only know how to settle things permanently. With guns, and with someone ending up dead. Anyone else have opinions on this?

Initial violence is the refuge of the incompetent. It's really that simple.

You have criminals everywhere and there is very little you can do to prevent attacks of a madman. This is especially true with madmen who are willing to give their own life. They are single cases among over 320 million US citizens.Ghost wrote:It's not about the guns.....
A peaceful, sane, healthy society could have many guns and have no violence problem.
In USA there are many areas which are perfectly safe, but there are also streets where you need an armed escort to protect you because almost everybody living there has already spent many months and even years in jail.
In Asia in some countries where firearms are outlawed, you can buy them nevertheless easily, for example in the Philippines.
In Japan swords and daggers are outlawed, but killings are often done using knives. You cannot send a policeman after every single individual.
Other countries are much worse than USA, they are more or less war-zones like many parts of Africa and near East.
It's not only about USA, Latin America also has its gun culture and daily killings among gang-members are considered as 'normal', it happens almost daily.

Yeah, we've had firearms ever since the Europeans set foot in the new world. We've had semi-automatic rifles for over a quarter century. I'm a cynical person and I hate to be a conspiracy theorist, but something is behind this recent string of attacks. Or maybe it really just is as Ghost said, the U.S. is just sinking culturally. In that case, it doesn't matter if we have guns or not. People are going to find ways to commit mass murders either way.

You know something, you're absolutely right! America is a culture bathed in guns and bloodshed. And by the way, did you know that single people are the most common targets for crime in America? On American streets, single people are literally crime fodder! Singles are the most at risk of getting gunned down, murdered, robbed, and mugged. Also in America, in more and more cases, it is proving to be deadly ground to not be a family member of someone you are meeting.traveller wrote:A number of massacres at schools, centers for disabled people, plus random shootings sometimes sparked by a mere misunderstanding that often turn into a homicide.
