An inspiring movie according to my wife :D

Post by publicduende »

Hi,

I've never posted something about my personal menage with my wife Monica before, so please forgive me if it will come across as a hopeless rant. I just thought it would be sociologically interesting. As some of you probably know Italy lost big time against Spain at Euro2012 and my mood wasn't the best ever last (Sunday) night. On our way home on the tube Monica says she had watched a movie on Netflix that made her reflect a lot on the joys and hurdles, the ups and downs (mainly downs) or marriage, and "inspired her" by teaching her that it takes effort and a host of little details to rekindle a fading love, let alone passion.

Conversation ended up there, until tonight she insisted that I watched at least the trailer, below.

I honestly couldn't get myself to watch all of it. I just had to stop before the end of second minute, gasping out one of the biggest WTF I have ever given to anyone, let alone my beloved wifey. And WTF it is, mates! In 2 minutes of trailer all I see is:

- a spotless, handsome and heroic husband slaving away as a fireman, risking his life to save that of women trapped in cars, kids trapped in houses, maybe cats on trees (and never a hint of p***y :));
- the same heroic husband just about touching once on the fact that her lady and him used to be in love and their marriage is now fading into indifference;
- a bunch of people from his work, and even the big flashy captions, advising him to go the extra mile to save his marriage, do sacrifices, try the impossible...
- ...to which we see him buying flowers to her, calling her at work (she's some sort of doctor), prepare candlelit dinners on his way back from work, and obviously kneeling down in front of a big cross somewhere in the woods.

Honestly, it might be some passing regurgitation of some of you guys' posts on manginas and the sorry state of the feminist-bashed American man. I am almost embarassed with myself because I'm definitely not the type who would blame all the evils of mankind (and manhood) to some zionist feminist conspiracy that involves CIA, ASIO or other four letter words. Far from it. And yet, I just cannot see the trailer, and consequently the entire movie and whatever came with it, as a pure act of extreme feminist, perhaps Catholic feminist, propaganda. Even in those two short minutes I got the message as strong as a punch in the stomach: you can be a good man, hard working and respectable in all sides of life, but as long as you don't worship your wife, listen to her rants, fulfil her desires and give in to her needs and priorities at every possible chance, your marriage will be doomed to fail. And it wil be all your fault and you won't be worth a dime anyway, no matter what you've done.

If these are the kinds of movies they spoon-feed the average Catholic male with in the US, well...really, God Save America. :)

Wow, good find, PD! That movie looks pretty sick (in the original sense of the word). I got the feeling from some elements of the trailer that there was just a chance that it slightly criticises the impossible standards and feminist paranoia typical of the modern anglo woman, but I wouldn't be prepared to watch the whole thing to find out. :)

The movie is christian feminist propaganda. An analysis and review can be found here:

Thanks mate. It was painful enough to go through the review.
