Why are people so dishonest? Examples from groups

How come hardly anyone is honest except me?

Wasn't Billy Joel right when he sang "Honesty, is such a lonely word. Everyone is so untrue..."?

Examples:

- American women say they don't have a physical type and only care about personality. Yet they only choose good looking attractive guys.

- Russian women usually say "I don't care about race or appearance. If I love the man, that's what matters" yet they usually CHOOSE partners that are tall or big white men, thus indicating their preference by their ACTIONS, not words.

- Most Russians will claim that they are not racist if you ask them directly. But if an Asian man tries to rent an apartment or room in Moscow, around 90 percent of renters will not rent to them. They will either say "white only" in their rental ad, or reject the Asian upon meeting him when he shows up to look at the room.

- Chinese/Taiwanese women who only date white men, when asked about it, will deny it saying "I don't only date white men. I just date whoever I fall in love with."

- Young Taiwanese girls, particularly in Taipei, will claim that they don't speak any Taiwanese, or not enough to use it in conversation. They say this because speaking Taiwanese among other young people is seen as low-class and uneducated, whereas using Mandarin is seen as more educated and modern. But when these girls go to family reunions, and an elderly relative or grandparent speaks to them in Taiwanese, they WILL speak Taiwanese back. Therefore, when they have to, they CAN speak it.

- Everyone thinks that they are not a bad driver, and that only other people are.

- Everyone claims to be genuine, real and not fake. So if you believe that, then there are no fake people in this world.

- Every used car salesman claims to be honest and not high pressure. So if you believe that, then there are no dishonest car salesmen and no high pressure salesmen in the world.

- Everyone claims to be good honest people that you can trust. So if you believe that, then there are no dishonest people that you can't trust.

- Everyone claims to be open minded. If you believe that, then there are no closed minded people in the world.

Also:

How come on TV bartenders lend a sympathetic ear to people drinking at the bar, listen to their problems and provide deep conversation? But in real life I hear, they don't do that?

How come therapists or psychologists on TV make interesting observations about people that are deep and insightful, or at least try to be, even if they are wrong? But in real life such people just sit in chair and listen to you and offer no insight or wisdom, they just listen and make more appointments?

i guess it depends on personal experience: because for russian women. a russian woman would approach me every time i came to the store she worked in. she was very nervous around me. indicating attraction. i do believe you about them dating tall muscular guys. its just from my experience they find me attractive and i am black.

american woman: yes that is true they do go after outward appearance all the time. an american woman i know likes big muscles. and she says its all about the personality. but she drools over men with big muscles. really funny.

women are never in the middle. they are either on the left or on the right when it comes to emotional decisions. HAHA
