Every night now I dream I'm somewhere else - Winston
Every night now I dream I'm somewhere else - Winston
You guys won't believe this. But every night now I have a dream that I'm somewhere else, traveling and happy again. I've even had dreams of being back in California again and seeing the wonderful clean parks, beautiful weather, clean air and familiar eating joints I remember. Or being back in Angeles City again and being surrounded by friendly sexy bar girls. Or I dream of being in some far away land where I'm happy again.
Then I wake up and realize that I'm still in Taiwan. Yes, it's become that miserable here. I never thought it would come to this. Taiwan has become the most miserable place in the universe to me. Even California and Angeles City seem like a "happy fantasy" now that I dream about every night.
God, Taiwan must be miserable beyond words. It must be the most terrible place. How can such a place exist? At this point, it feels like any place in the world is better than Taiwan. How can it get to this point?
Before I would have occasional dreams like this. Now I have them every night. WTF?!
Do any of you have dreams like this too?
It reminds me of when my ex-girlfriend left me and I was in deep depression 24/7. Every night I would dream that we were together again and happy, and then I would wake up to the miserable reality that we weren't. Isn't that terrible? Did you ever have a period like that in your life?
God it's so sad and miserable. How can it get to this point?!
I guess in this case, ignorance is bliss. If you've ever left Taiwan, you would not know that anywhere else is better, like a puppy dog. But I live with the curse of KNOWING that there are many places out there that are much BETTER than Taiwan. And that makes me miserable, much more than those who know nothing outside of Taiwan.

For me, I don't think about things I don't like. I think about a million other things. But every night when I dream, my subconscious gives in and expresses my real desires and wishes.

Actually I should really thank you for this site Winston. I'm sure you've received the same praise countless times before, but you've really tapped into something here. That's why you can have a profitable business. I really related when I read the story on this site. I suffered major depression as a teenager. I just never fit in here and it started to become a recursive loop. I'd fail to make friends and then when someone tried to become friends with me I'd just push them away because of my own insecurities about failing to make friends with people previously. So I was extremely isolated and I never learned anything at school. I'd say 10% of my knowledge comes from school and 90% from my own studies over the past two years since dropping out of college. I used to have no real moral code or philosophy or strong opinions or any way of looking at the world. I was just completely empty. It finally got to the point where I was like a month away from jumping off a bridge and I decided to quit college and try and make a real life for myself. You think California was bad? Try New Jersey. I was just in California for a week this month and it felt like hope to me. So it's a good thing you're having these dreams to remind you. You aren't cursed with knowledge. Use it to your advantage. Knowledge is a virtue you shouldn't waste.Winston wrote:What type of situation were you in?abcdavid01 wrote:There was a time it got so bad I'd cry myself to sleep at night. Last few months half my dreams have been about packing up and traveleing.Winston wrote:You guys won't believe this. ...The other half about businesses similar to what I have been successful in before. To fund the travel.

Yeah yeah yeah, OK.

Yeah, "miserable," "happy fantasy." Right, right.

Well, at least it beats living with your son, doesn't it?
Just take a gun and shoot yourself in the head. Should work. Before I would have occasional dreams like this. Now I have them every night. WTF?!

You asked that same question twice, now. Stop repeating yourself. It reminds me of when my ex-girlfriend left me and I was in deep depression 24/7. Winston your dream is a sign that you need to leave Taiwan. Like many of the other guys said here it's time to pack your stuff and move to greener pastures. Not trying to insult you or anything but the happier abroad site is what motivated a lot of us to travel outside of the bubble and seek better places. I honestly think it's time for you to either head on over to the Philippines or somewhere else you always wanted to be in.
After I went to NYC on vacation I kept dreaming I was there. I loved that place. From what I saw of it, the rest of the USA seems to suck a bit. I'd love to work in NYC for a year.
I was Happier Abroad for a while but Covid killed that off.

HaHa NYC you're joking right? You Europeans have this fetish with NYC. It's a dump. Smaller towns here in California offer a much better living.xiongmao wrote:After I went to NYC on vacation I kept dreaming I was there. I loved that place. Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you
That is how I know you, go on
Far across the distance
And spaces between us
You have come to show you, go on
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
Love can touch us one time
And last for a lifetime
And never let go till we're gone
I see you, I feel you
That is how I know you, go on
Far across the distance
And spaces between us
You have come to show you, go on
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on

And you're here in my heart

win, maybe you are in a midlife crisis. anyway what about doing or thinking about something more spectacular and out of the box so you could feel in life again?
you could open an "ha office" for example in angeles city. it would be somekind of your land, a fraternity so you don´t feel alone have your boys around you and you won´t be far away from your baby. of course it has to be kept secret as there are evil guys around. we should only include the elite like myself.

It's ridiculously cheap to travel. Why aren't you trying?
I'll bet if you wanted to come to California, you could practically come for free.
1. Sign up for United or Delta credit cards, you'll get 50,000 miles. Buy the ticket on the card so you get double miles. Join all the offers to get bonus miles. Fly to CA, once your total reaches 65K miles, you have a free ticket to Asia.
2. Use your HA connections to get people to give you a free place to stay. Maybe some of them will even help drive you around town.
3. In Asia, use airlines like Air Asia, Cebu Pacific and Tiger.
4. Use couchsurfing, your HA contacts or airbnb, or most places in SE asia are cheap anyway, you should be able to find a place for less than $12 a night.
Or start a HA bridal introduction service.

Absolutely right! Cities are only good for 18 year olds to go clubbing every night. When you grow up you realise paying all your wages to subsist is not worth it, although many people are stuck with their jobs in cities.eurobrat wrote:HaHa NYC you're joking right?
