Scowl-faced women; UK vs. Spain

Post by mattyman »

Just want to comment on something that's stood out like a sore thumb after returning to the UK from Granada in southern Spain two weeks ago; the prevalence of scowling women in public.

Why then, in Granada, were scowling faces very much part of the minority? It was so nice down there, they smile more, they don't walk around with a stuck-up expressiong on their face, you don't get that 'don't look in my direction creep' vibe. Almost none of it. Most women in public had a fairly neutral-looking expression. A 'resting bitch face' was definitely a small minority, not the norml.

Here by contrast, most young women have an unpleasant, hard, mean, tough look on their face. Many look like they'd bite your head off or yield a thermonuclear explosion if one were to dare talking to them. It's pretty rare to see young women smile.

It's just so much more noticeable now than before my trip.

I met a Canadian guy who had lived in the UK for a number of years, who thought of the UK as being a fairly aggressive place.

Many of the items on the comparison chart on this website might as well be a comparison between Andalucia and urban England.

Something I notice with some women is they have a problem with getting what they want. They'll want something, then get it, then want something else (that's totally antithetical to the last thing, because there's nowhere else to go from there). Maybe then maybe be looking for the first thing again (because the second thing didn't work out AND she's trying for something ELSE like before).
