What other type of work or career can you do that is best to someday live overseas?

I understand many people opt out to be ESL teachers to teach overseas and that is probably the quickest way but to be honest ESL teaching is kind of a dead end job and from what I research the amount of money you make is limited. There is online business but that's also iffy (I'm working on my right now but not making anything so far.)

I remember someone telling me to get an MBA in USA and some countries overseas wants to hire an MBA graduate...
I also heard that if your good a day trading you can work anywhere in the world and just trade for a living.

I figure the other choice would be investment and living off the capital gain but you have to have load of money in the first place for that to work.

I think one of biggest reason why many guys don't live overseas is because of income. The other choices to work really hard in the states and save as much as you can and invest wisely..but that's like maybe 10 -20 years for some guys if they want to make the move overseas. That may explain why a good number of expats overseas are older men. Because it took them that long to have the money to finally make the move.

Well you could invest in Japanese stocks. They pay at least 10%, and it is not uncommon to find 20%. Mitsubishi UFJ Financial has a dividend of 25%, plus it has a nice margin of safety. Also, check out Annaly Capital. (NYSE:NLY) They are yielding like 17%. Then there is Mills Music trust (8 or 9%), A&W Trust (9%), and ING ASIA PACIFIC HIGH DIVIDEND FUND (NYSE:IAE). This is if you have a nice chunk of money laying around. You could still do this as a side hustle, but as a full income it is kind of dountful.

I don't know your skills, but have you considered freelancing? There are sites where you can sell your services without even having to leave your home. Examples of these are freelance.com, scriptlance, freelancer.com, elance, liveperson.com, and other such sites. You may not be able to market, but you may be into Six Sigma, computer programming, or tech support.

Also, try pouring more hours into research. When I started doing my little biz (which I discontinued), I researched like mad. Look for top keywords at find or created products around those. Also, diversify your product base so well that someone is bound to find something at your site.

I wish you the best in your endeavors.

You can teach subjects other than ESL, or become a consultant.

i.e. Six Sigma, TQM, etc.

I know of English teachers making $2000+ a month in China.

It's also possible to hustle in China...
