Thailand must be booming as well - I've heard unemployment is below 1%. In Spain it's like 25% or something.
No wonder they struggle to fill the go go bars with anything above a 7.

I heard that when a Thai worker wants a vacation, they just quit and go home to see their family. They are confident they can find a job easily when they return to the city.xiongmao wrote:Thailand must be booming as well - I've heard unemployment is below 1%. In Spain it's like 25% or something.

let me just make a quick remark on this coming from a filipino living in the Philippines.
while we are experiencing tremendous amount of economic growth (as what statistics would say)--which tickles the prospects of our government and businessmen--, i would still say that income disparity is something that is still prevalent here. in other words, the favorable statistics are felt only by the rich/elite.
while some would contend with me on this one as there is such thing as "trickle down" economics (i.e. income of the rich should theoretically flow into the income of the poor), i would say that it is not the case. there is a lot of blockages (i.e. inefficiencies) in our economy: corruption and wage distortion, among others.
